rg500gamma Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 hi i need to find a permenent live to fit to the stereo can anyone tell me where one in the galaxy is or can i go direct to the battery steve Quote
ALANC555 Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 The permanent live is usually a red and white wire. It maybe easier buying a Harness adaptor there only a couple of quid of flEBAY . You can run a wire to the battery but make sure it's the right gauge and fit an inline fuse Quote
rg500gamma Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 thanks alan its on a proper ford block connector from the stereo and all works ace until you pull the keys out then nothing is saved will run a cable and fuse mate thanks Quote
tdi90 Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 What stereo are you trying to fit, std or after market? If its a standard jobbie, there must be a fault in wiring somewhere along the line. Test the connector with a multi meter to see if you can find a perminant live. If its aftermarket stereo, most have bullit connectors on the power supply wires so that you can move them from switchable live to perminant live depending on car wiring. If not I`d chop the wires and add some connectors, it`ll be easier than routing a new cable  Quote
Dave-G Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 (edited) Assuming its a std ford unit you have. Thats the same problem I had with an earlier gal, cost me Edited April 26, 2007 by Dave-G Quote
tiny Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 I had bother putting a JVC with atandard DIN connectors in my MK1 The DIN connector in the galaxy was wired differently and as a result I kept losing my memory (in the head unit) For some reason the permanent live was actually switched and the switched live was permanent? All I did was cut and swapped the 2 lives on the galaxy wiring just behind the connector. If you use bullet conectors or similar you can simply swap them back at any point in the future. Quote
rg500gamma Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 cheers tiny that sounds just the thing to do its a sony xplode with 10 disc multichanger Quote
morticiaskeeper Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 You can buy an adaptor to do the live wire swap for you. Incardiscount.co.uk had them in stock (I live nearby). I bet even Halfrauds do them. Quote
