Scope Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 How do you get the black (none remote) keys programmed anyway? Its not like you can press a button on it, like the remote key. I've got a spare remote key waiting to be programmed, but not yet worked out how none-remote keys are programmed. Quote
NikpV Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 long time ago but I think this is the procedure I used This procedure only works if two or more programmed ignition keys are available and it is desired to program additional key(s). Note:If the programming procedure is not successful, the new key(s) will not start the vehicle and the anti-theft indicator will flash. If the programming procedure was not successful leave the ignition switch in the RUN position for at least 30 seconds, repeat the Key Programming procedure from step 1. If the failure repeats, refer to Diagnostic and testing to review DTCs and carry out Pinpoint Tests. Note:A maximum of eight ignition keys can be programmed to a passive anti-theft system (PATS) equipped vehicle. Note:If the steps are not carried out as outlined, the programming procedure will end. Note:Ignition keys must have the correct mechanical key cut for the vehicle and must be a PATS encoded key. 1. Insert the first programmed key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the lock cylinder from the OFF position to the RUN position (maintain ignition lock cylinder in the RUN position for one second). 2. Turn ignition lock cylinder to the OFF position and remove the first key from the ignition lock cylinder. 3. Within five seconds of turning the ignition lock cylinder to the OFF position, insert the second programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition lock from the OFF position to the RUN position (maintain the ignition lock cylinder in the RUN position for one second). 4. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the OFF position and remove the second key from the ignition lock cylinder, key programming mode is now active. 5. Within ten seconds of turning the ignition lock cylinder to the OFF position, insert the unprogrammed ignition key (new key) into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition lock cylinder from the OFF position to the RUN position (maintain the ignition lock cylinder in the RUN position for less than five seconds). 6. Check the new programmed key starts the vehicle. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position for five seconds and then try to start the vehicle with the new programmed key. 7. To program additional key(s), repeat the applicable key programming procedure from step 1. Quote
joczeze Posted April 25, 2007 Author Report Posted April 25, 2007 Dear Friends I have 3 keys programmed in the past ! Now I only have 2, because the one with remote is not start the engine. NikpV - Thanks for you information. That is what I have done for several times. Or does not work or Im making always the same mistake. I cannot even know if the system(PATS) are in programmed mode. Do you know any way to confirm it ( the led stay of, or flash or what ???) Thanks Quote
billywizzo Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Same problem for me.I even have a red key but still cannot get it to work.Tried both ways with 2 keys (one the red key) and just the red key way but cannot get it to go into programing mode. Were there any Galaxy's built that can only be programed by ford and not using keys. NikpV Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 It is possible to disable user programming of keys (on the mk2 at least) in software - used apparently for fleet vehicles (btw think the red key programming is different) Quote
joczeze Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 Dear NikpV Thanks for you reply. My Galaxy is MK1, but have just black plstic keys, and no red master key. I believe that was one of the first to have this. I believe this are similar also in MK2. Iunderstand from you words that there are a way to enable this system of PATS programming ? Does I understand it right ?If yes does you know or somebody a way to make it ? Thanks Quote
NikpV Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 user programming is allowed normally it can be turned off using VAG COM I used the procedure above to proram my spare key ( Quote
joczeze Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 Dear Friend I can program key fod in drivers door. That I have done with sucess. The led will flash 5 ou 6 times. If can be turned off, also can be on, right ? Any idea about it ? I believe that the immo (PATS) is from Ford are diferent from VW. I believe that even programming keys with vag-com are impossible in Galaxy.I Quote
HullHornet#30 Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I had this problem and found out it was actuall the PATS chip itself in the key was faulty, got a new one and worked first time using the method in the FAQ. Quote
joczeze Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 Dear Friend I really had think about that. Even Ford cannot program it. Can you tell me where you foun the Chip r where can I buy it ? Thanks Quote
jason robson Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 how to program yore key fob it works How To Program Ford Galaxy Remote Keys Hold key in drivers door lock, turn to unlock 3 times, this illuminates red light in driver's door. Press and hold the unlock button on key and press the lock button 3 times to get light in driver's door flashing again. You galaxy remote key should now be programmed. You should also note that if you successful program your fob you will need to do the second one straight after and before the door LED goes out, as programing clears the existing ones from memory. joczeze Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 Dear Friends After more than 6 month I still cannot solve the problem to programe new keys. The fob program method are very easy to do it and works perfectly. The problem is to put it working and start the engine. As I told in previous post even Ford had some problems to program keys. They have make some mistakes, and then they solve it, because they return to program the 3 original keys, but not the others that I wish to program. I had brought some new transponders, identical to the originals, but even this does not work. Can anybody confirms that this method of look and unlock works in Ford galaxy (someone that have done it), or this must be programed as the Sharan, with vag-com and codes ? Thanks for the help. Quote
Beyond Help? Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 If you have 3 keys working then why not just take the chips out of them and put them into the keys you want working? Quote
joczeze Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Dear SirsI really need one more key!!!In the past I went to Ford to prgramming a new key and even they could not do it. I arrive ther with 3 working keys, and they start to programme another key. The work was not well done, and I leave Ford just with 2 working keys. In some days after I went there again, they clean all the keys and put again the 3 keys. They try to do the programming was is describe, but cannot do it, so they went to WDS, clean all keys and they start from beginning. Now I have 3 keys but still wish to have one more!!!! Does anyome confirm that can programming the keys by the ON/OFF method descibed !!!!???? Thanks Quote
