sanjsanj Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 (edited) just researching about the mk2 before i start looking for one.... 1) Do all mk2's have the "Aerotwin" wipers 2) Do all of them have auto leveling xenon headlamps? (or at least xenon headlamps)3) Next to the radio, if all 8 of the big rectangle buttons were in use, what would they consist of? So far I can count 6:Park Distance control, Hazard Lights,Front heated windscreen,Rear heated windscreenLeft heated seatRight Heated seat Could the remaining be for the rearmost electric windows or are those switches near the gear lever, like in this picture? 4) how many keys are supposed to come with it? one remote one normal? (used to be three with mk1)5) If required, when does the cambelt need changing on an Xreg 1.9 TDi Ghia auto (115PS) thanks for your helpsanj Edited April 20, 2007 by sanjsanj Quote

Dave-G Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 just researching about the mk2 before i start looking for one.... 1) Do all mk2's have the "Aerotwin" wipers No - my X-Reg did not have them but the 02 did2) Do all of them have auto leveling xenon headlamps? (or at least xenon headlamps) no these are optional extras3) Next to the radio, if all 8 of the big rectangle buttons were in use, what would they consist of? As per your photo, both sides on the models with single climate control - or just the one with dual climate control4) how many keys are supposed to come with it? one remote one normal? (used to be three with mk1) And a plastic one5) If required, when does the cambelt need changing on an Xreg 1.9 TDi Ghia auto (115PS), Depends on the builld/sale month. First of the X-Reg's were 60K intervals with two years warranty. When the third year warranty was introduced (in may 2000?) we got to contribute towards its cost with extra servicing and a 40K interval.thanks for your helpsanj Quote

I know, Could it be the master switch which controls the rear heating controls on the B-pillar of non climate control cars)? 4) how many keys are supposed to come with it? one remote one normal? If so, surely the earlier diesel mk2's should start changing @ 40K rather than the original 60K? Quote
raymac Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Hi Ray - I just happened to be up at the time, Sleep impediment thingy ok mate, just up now after nightshift will have to go out tonigh for about 7/8 pints of the blackstuff so as i can sleep tonight  nigjts does have it's upsides but not many, hope you get your sleep problem sorted ,had some problems a few years ago were i was averaging only 1or2 hrs a night and it's not nice so wish you well with it ;) Quote

The plastic key is a master key..where you can use it to get another cut. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 true,,,,,does pay to use search though  Quote
mumof4 Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 Yes it is good to talk......i dont deny that.....but most of sanjs posts are questions about Gals in one way or another.lol Quote
Dave-G Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 ... thanks for the early reply! 4) What's the plastic one for? does it lock/unlock the car? For the hotel porter I think - can't get into your glove box or steal the car IIRC. I wouldn't like to trust a plastic key in my ignition barrel with the spring loading they have in them5) Does the different cambelt change interval mean that ford realised 60K miles was too much or something??? If so, surely the earlier diesel mk2's should start changing @ 40K rather than the original 60K? Warranty on ther MK1 and first few MK11's was for two years and they allowed 60k between cambelt changes. My knowledge of why they reduced the interval is guesswork. Could be there is more load on the PD engine camshaft and Ford got worried. Could also be that when market pressures for 3 years warranty became stronger they decided the buyer would have to help pay for it via their franchised dealers gaining more work. The "changeover" occurred during early X-REG. Several large lease operators then ditched the galaxy because of the extra costs involved in keeping their cars for about 60K and the interval more recently returned to 60K (during "05" I think) - albeit under the guise of (or genuine) a stronger belt with a different part number Quote
Dave-G Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 I have just rtfm  The key does the same as the others apparently, but is not recomended for continual use. I have just unlocked my car with it and started it up, while inwardly groaning about the spring effort to hold the barrel into the starter motor position. Quote
