Bit Of A Bee Sound Coming From Engine

hi peeps,

a few days ago the old gal started to make a funny bee like noise buzzing whirring from the engine, hard to describe really

its at its loudest when at around 3000 revs when driving along, it can also be heard when staionary and revving it up

to be fair it aint that loud a noise really, its just i have never heard it before now.

 

its a 2.0 glx 1996 p reg and its covered 97k last oil change i done was at 90k i use 10w 40 oil been ok till now

any ideas

 

funny things i heard a 2.0 gal go past near work today and i could hear the same noise coming from that ?????????

Loose heat shield on the exhaust ?
