Speedo Not Working

had a reconned engine fitted just now. the original engine was removed by another garage and shipped to them. they say the car is mechanically fine, but the speedo and rev counter are not working. the original garage say it would be nothing they did - so i'm puzzled why this garage wont do it - is it a difficult job ? i don't want to take the car away then find it's a very expensive job ?? anyone ??

Speedo and RPM are different things, so would it be a multi plug is not conected somewhere? and maybe other things are not working... eg coolant temp.

Picked the car up car this morning - You're dead right - - the whole console is dead - no fuel, temp, rev, speedo, nothing - also the cruise control seems to be gone. Any suggestions ??

You have a main engine multiplug not connected, where it is i dont know, and its not easy to see in a Galaxy engine bay, someone on here must know where it is???, possibly near the battery?

I'd be looking behind the instrument panel to see if the plug has been pulled off - perhaps to hide a warning light... :ph34r:

That would be very naughty!, i assumed it is the main engine loom connection as it would have been undone when the engine was replaced.

In my handbook Fuse 31 (3amp violet) is for instrument cluster but also audio, does the radio work?

unfortunately, the radio does still work - bout the only thing in the console that does!

i should also add that the interior lights are all out, and the heater only blows hot air out !!
