mumof4 Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 bumped!! We need at least 15/20 peeps for this please.. please...if you want to help raise money for charity and be involved in something that will be good fun whilst raising money for charity..then please put your name down..I know we have families etc...but surely you can spare a bit of time to help .Be it actually driving or helping to organise..we need as many peeps as we can to get this off the ground!!..considering that we all have mpvs for a reason..and most of us have kids..then surely this would be the perfect chance to help those kids less fortunate than ours..those kids that need the money we will raise to help them....So c'mon......let us get this off the ground. neiluk Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 As the route is probably lands end to John O'Groats, would it bypass Wales altogether? What about a 3 Capital cities triangular route? A true country wide event then :-) Neil. Quote

neiluk Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 You could make it more of a challenge by using nothing bigger than A roads to travel on, ie NO motorways AT ALL!!! I would think that this would make it a more interesting drive for the participants. It might also encorage a bit more sponsorship too :) . Mumof4 , why do you and others keep refering to your navigating skills? Have you had troubles with maps in the past? Neil. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 24, 2007 Author Report Posted April 24, 2007 neil...directions and me dont understand each other.lol.i always get lost......reknown for it on here...gone the wrong way on the M25 a few times...ended up at terminal 2 on the odd occasion...took 6 hours to do a 2 hour journey...been on the wrong side of the country..list is endless...even got lost in a convoy with other galaxys!! A roads..Hmm....ill have me sat nav up and running by then..though...takes all the fun out of scenic driving.lmao Quote

mikeohope Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 OK we need a roll call on this. There are two things we need to know. Who can commit to help organise? Who can commit to take part? Quote

mumof4 Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 Yes to both for me. Anyway..got an update of sorts Had a lady on the phone this aft from the NSPCC.Got a few pointers. 1.Name of our event..like..say miles for smiles?..(just a suggestion.)2.Why are we doing this?..this is to let peeps like companies and media know why. What purpose are we doing it for?..is it that for every mile we drive we are raising funds for an abused child?..or that for every 500 pounds we raise it will councell a child for 5 weeks?etcc..3.What would we carry.Hand overs could be at NSPCC projects for more publicity etc..4.WE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO DO THIS!!!!!5.They will support us in this. And are willing to help set up meetings to plan and discuss progress.6.Sponsorship..i.e.personal sponsorship. There is a website called Just giving where we could each raise sponsorship.7.We need to decide most def on a route.8.Media.9.Could ask corporates to sponsor legs of the journey?.what would they get out of it.10.WE NEED YOUR HELP TO DO THIS!!!!!!!!!! Please help us do this.we have several members wanting to do this. But we need more. The lady i spoke to is behind us all the way and can give us as much help as we need..but they cannot do it all for us.So please, if you want to help raise money for children that need help then please put your name down. Thank you Marian. Quote

mumof4 Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 Roight, i was e-mailed a brilliant idea by Teresa, she was woken at silly time in the morning by her other halfs (Jase)brainwave!. Here it is folks.: name :- RUN FOR YOUR MONEY THE PARCEL TO CARRY WILL BE A CRYSTAL FIGURINE OF A MOTHER WITH BABY IN ARMS PLAQUE BELOW TO STATE NSPCC SPONSERED DRIVE LANDS END TO JOHN O GROATS 2008 A BOOK TO BE SIGNED BY ALL THE COMPANYS WHO DONATE, THOSE WHO TAKE PART, ETC AND PRESENTED TO THE MAIN HEADQUATERS OF THE CHARITY AT THE END ALSO CALL AT LOCAL RADIO STATIONS AND GET LOCAL PAPERS THERE TO PROMOTE WHAT WHAT WE ARE DOING Also, Jase is going to make enquiries to see if anyone will donate a statue. what you think peeps! We could edit the words on the plaque to include our club name.Also..just thinking.....maybe at some point, all those involved in organiseing could meet up?I know thats asking a lot as we are spread all over the place, But if it was a day thing, we could get more sorted out in person. Thanks Jase for the idea. Quote
teresa Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 county to county run using the local radio stations as a change over point and direct publicity through the radio station.. Also a possible idea once the final destination is reached at john o groats the figurine will then make its way to the headquaters of NSPCC where all the drivers involved meet up for a final publicity photoshoot for eg Quote
mumof4 Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Posted May 8, 2007 Ok..had a thought........now..im going to post a link o this thread on the picasso site to see if they would like to join us..that way, we may get more people involved, also it will publicise glens clubs as a whole rather than just ours..
