mumof4 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Is there anyone here who is good at organisation/planning and implementing of ideas, might have some experience of raising funds from companies etc??? I have an idea its a very big idea, but i need to know if it is feasable. Quote
mikeohope Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Depends what the idea is. I work in procurement and have often had to use the generous/charitable nature of big companies to raise funds for all sorts of events and functions but you never get anything for nothing. They usually want something out of it such as publicity, advertising, inside lane on potential business opportunities etc etc. So depends on the idea. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 17, 2007 Author Report Posted April 17, 2007 Thanks Mike/Biscuit/Gregers/familyman/Wolfie for your input this eve. All we be revealed soon folks. :) Quote

Neils TDi again Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Ask for help and not describe what you want very good idea...... Quote
mumof4 Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 Ask for help and not describe what you want very good idea...... I have my reasons....I need to know that it will work and we need to refine it before it is posted so any questions that are asked can be answered.Give us time. It is a huge project that needs some plan of action ..it was only thought of last night.. Quote
teresa Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Ask for help and not describe what you want very good idea...... It is a huge project that needs some plan of action ..it was only thought of last night.. so thats what all the smoke was last night :) Quote
mumof4 Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 oK..the idea in a very rough outline. A relay/pass the parcel across the country involving as many members as we can.Raising money for charity. I have been in touch with the NSPCC this morning and because this idea will be country wide, someone from head office needs to get in touch with me. I have given them our web addy and my details so i am just waiting to hear from their head office for any help/info they can give us. now, mike is going to be drawing something up.This is a big thing to organise and we will need peeps to help. Aiming for it to be started next year . This is just the first stage ..throwing ideas around..listing what needs to be done etc...your help is needed to pull this off!! As we are a family car..the charity needed to be linked with children.Does not necessarily have to be one charity..maybe 2. WE aim to raise at least Quote
AndeeeH Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Great idea Maz, but with the well documented failings in your sense of direction I take it you will be doing the last leg as you'll never find anyone else to pass on to. :) :) :D Andy. Quote
mumof4 Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 Cheers Andy. :) :) .. So come on then...who will be interested in doing this..There are loads of us members..new and old....its for a good cause and gives our place some publicity. If we dont get enough members from this club..i will have to approach another as i really want this to go ahead.... Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 Great idea Maz, but with the well documented failings in your sense of direction I take it you will be doing the last leg as you'll never find anyone else to pass on to.  :D Andy. maybe we could have a sponsered drive? all done by mo, we could divide the country up into lots and sell off the info on where she'll be at a certain time  you know like a safety warning to those in that area to stay indoors on that day  then we could tap shell, esso or bp for a percentage of the profit they make every time she fills up  Quote
mumof4 Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 Mike has pm me a plan..blimey.......i will be in chat this eve if anyone wants to yak about it. Quote

mumof4 Posted April 19, 2007 Author Report Posted April 19, 2007 Ok..here is mikes plan that he has drawn up. Item Task1 Forum to decide on Charity it wishes to support and gain agreement from the chosen charity/charities 2 Forum to agree method of fundraising ie what it wants to do and how is the money to be raised ie participants getting sponsored/ corporate donations etc. If the participants are getting sponsored they need to be set a challenge to achieve to justify the collection of pledged funds 3 If we are going for a "pass the parcel" type event, then agree and map the route, set the number of stages, set the hand over points, my opinion is this is a good idea but needs to be a challenging route such as lands end to John O'Groats over a weekend, (839 miles) quite achievable in say 25 stages (33 miles stage). Stages will need to be set. 4 Decide when to run the event and for how long will we need support vehicle to follow the whole event in the case of a participant breakdown? 5 Decide on size of event, small, medium, large. Large is probably out of the question. Corporate donators will probably expect medium size at least with some media coverage probably just local papers at this level. 6 Decide what we want to be in the parcel, what value, how is it won, how to raise funds for it ie sell raffle tickets, web page, flyers, etc if raffle suggest it is drawn at the end. Get local celeb to draw winning ticket parcel will need to contain meaningful prize, (eg family holiday up to Quote

jkspoff Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Sounds like a fantastic and original idea, count me in Maz, I can offer the link for all or part of the West Yorkshire area depending on volunteers. My chosen charity would be either Child Line or NSPCC. Good luck with the organising, if you need help give me a shout. :o Quote
