Guest dwalshaw Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Hi All I'm using a Tomtom sat nav in my 1.9 tdi ghia (55plate) and would like to put in another power supply rather than running the cable down to the fag lighter. I had the brainwave of connecting a cigarette lighter to the clock wiring and pulling the cable through the grill next to the clock. After checking the cigarette lighter I bought, it requires a 15 - 20 fuse so the clock wiring is no good as this only has a 5 amp.Anyone got any suggestions of how I can get a supply for a tomtom near the clock? Thanks Dave Quote
chromedome Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 (edited) I have my TomTom on the right hand side of the dasboard, makes for easier viewing, and is powered from one of the radio feeds. You can thread the wiring from the radio, across under the fuse box and then up behind the side panel to the top of the dash. If you're feeling brave, I wasn't, you could try and get a feed from the fusebox. Hope this helps. REMEMBER: DON'T LEAVE THE TOMTOM OR MOUNTING BRACKET IN VIEW UNATTENDED UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR WINDOWS SMASHED. TOMTOMS ARE HOT PROPERTY. Edited April 17, 2007 by chromedome Quote
Guest dwalshaw Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Thanks for the advice, I ended up taking it to Halfords and playing dumb!!!!!!! I must have played the part well because they fitted it for me all neat and tidy and didn't charge me a penny, wouldn't even take anything for a drink. Quote
