Amanda Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Hello from me and I apologise if this is too much of a girlie question. I have an X reg galaxy 2.3 manual and the front wipers have stopped working. If I lift them from the window they work fine but when they lay on the window they judder and find it difficult to move. I local garage (without looking at the car) had suggested the mechanism need to be replaced. Price quoted is Quote

mumof4 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Thanks Guys. Mumof 4 I have already searched for yoru fantastic tips and will pass on to DH and his mate to take apart. Amanda Welcome by the way...lol.. When they take it apart..tell them not to rush...if it is seized.seizing..tell them to take their time or they may end up braking a spindle or the caseing..and not to use a dirty great big hammer. Also..always worth getting some old cloths to protect the sides of the engine bay when taking the linkage out.. I like wiper problems..i know about them.lol. Quote
Amanda Posted April 16, 2007 Author Report Posted April 16, 2007 next stupid question. How does one get into the engine compartment to remove the linkages? Quote
mumof4 Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 if you open the bonnet..you will see a black thing that covers up the wiper linkage..that needs to come off...you need to take the wiper arms off ..but mark on the windscreen where they are positioned.!!...have a look at my thread..it should show/tell you on there. Amanda Posted April 18, 2007 Author Report Posted April 18, 2007 ok an update. DH too the car apart yesterday. and one side has siezed. Great cheers of joy could be heard around Biggleswade. He then set about the item with a hammer shattering off the bit that holds it to the bulkhead and one of the support struts and hey prest Quote
mumof4 Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 omg..did say..not with a hammer, but if you did do it carefully!!!!!!!blimey.......these things are easily broken if whacked. how did he manage to shatter all that??..blimey....... Glad you got it sorted though. Quote
teresa Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 omg hope you have learnt never trust a man with a hammer..... they can cause all sorts of damage they then say its our fault for telling them what the problem was :) Quote
