Remote Keyfob Help

hi i have a ford galaxy 2.8 v6 n reg all it came with was a black key which unlocks the doors manually i have centrel locking and have looked under passenger seat and found a ecu withy alarm written on it i purchased a remote keyfob off ebay for a seat its a siemens 5wk4 790/97/98 it looks the same as the ones for a galaxy but cannot get it to work i also have the red led on drivers door flash when i lock car manually any help please

Infra Red if it has the receivers front and back......I think the Radio type didn't come out until 1998 ish

I/R system :blink: dont bother with it! range is crap and in most case only operates by direct line of sight, there are a several posts on how to add a radio remote system, a far better idea with increased range

Agree with Wolfie on this, plenty of aftermarkit kits available on Ebay

Hi

I have the infra red locking system and agree it is less than useless.

I seem to stand trying to lock/unlock the car for ages it seems unless it is at night.

Can you post any links to the locking upgrades you are talking about.

I did a search but not found any info.

is the remote fob the same for radio and infra red? and also where are the posts for converting to radio?

where are the posts for conversion from ird to radio and are the keys the same for both?

iI most cases it's a seperate remote fob, there are a couple of kits available where the remote clips onto the existing key or where you convert the key to a flip key like the Vw OE remotes :lol: as for the posts? hit the search engine..... good luck
