Suggested Type And Length Of Screws To Use

Have a mk1 and want to attach a phone holder in the space between the centre vent and heater controls. I know it will damage the facia but this is not a problem. Just want to be sure that I use the right size and length of screws without risking damaging anything that might be behind.

I done a similar thing in my dads passat.

 

I think using 1/2 screws should be fine.

 

Not sure if there is something behind that part of the dash on the Gal but it should be ok.

Why not just use some stong double sided tape?

Good model shops sell double sided tape for sticking radio controlled servo into cars and planes.

It's spongy and sticks very very well.......

There is a glue from evo-stick call "sticks like sh*t" available at screwfix direct,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks for the advice, I think the curved surface works against using glue or tape as there may not be enough surface area to make a good contact. I'll screw it in place, my big concern is screqwing in to something behind that facia, rather than how it looks when I sell it.

why not get a holder that clips into the vent?that way you wont bugger up the fascia?
