Guest SaraSeahorse Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 Hi everyone. I'm after a bit of help. We have a Galaxy Ghia 2.3 (1997) and we would really like a CD multichanger installed. However, I would prefer to have a MP3 player also as this will allow more tracks to be available rather than just 6/10 CDs. Does anyone have any suggestions of makes/models that will be usable with the factory fitted radio (tape), or something that can completely replace it? I don't really want to fit it myself and I am prepared to pay for installation. Thanks Stuart (& Sara) Quote
Guest siroccoman Posted December 26, 2003 Report Posted December 26, 2003 What head unit is in your Galaxy? Is it a standard Ford unit, if so which model number please? I have just put a Mp3 in my Ghia X with Factory Satnav, if you tell me what head unit you have, i will see if it is comaptible for you, Dave Quote
Guest SaraSeahorse Posted December 27, 2003 Report Posted December 27, 2003 Hi Dave Head unit 2007R Ford factory fitted which is CD changer control enabled. Thanks for the help. Stu Quote
Deadly DD Posted December 28, 2003 Report Posted December 28, 2003 Hi Sara I've got a 1998 version of the 2.3 Ghia, so I guess you have exactly the same model. Bad news, I'm afraid: three things suck! The stalk controls will not work with any other unit, the power amplifier within the Galaxy may have an adverse effect when trying to get a nice volume, and the powered aerial is a pig. Having said all that I went for an MP3 SONY XPLOD unit and I don't regret it! The sound quality is superior and having almost 100 music tracks on 1 CD is wonderful. Why (like most things in life) does it have to be a compromise? Still it could get worse - you could get married! No seriously; my wife is a gem! Have a lovely 2004! Quote
Guest SaraSeahorse Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Hmm...maybe using my wife's login wasn't such a good idea. Hey ho, just call me Mandy. Thanks for the advice deadly, I'll look into this. The stalk not working with another unit is a bit of a problem as you get used to this, but I drive many different cars at the moment so it shouldn't be that bad. My wife may have something to say on this though. I don't intend to install one myself so I'm not worried about the ariel (if this is how you're referring to it). Is it possible to replace the amp with a decent on at all do you know, or can anyone else advise? [edit]Just thought, does anyone have any recommendations for where to get these types of items, plus fitting around Northamptonshire? Also, is there anywhere where I can find more technical information out? [edit]One more edit  which model are you referring to? There seems to be many models, some quite expensive such as the version with the 16Gb hard disk. Stuart Quote
Guest SaraSeahorse Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Thanks for the advice. No, we didn't get the windows tainted in the end. Stu Quote
