Bigjeeze Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 (edited) JUst a question for the clever peeps. I noticed that my oil warning light goes out after a minute or two when I turn the ignition on but don't start the engine. I had thought this was triggered by the oil pressure switch but now I am not sure. Can anyone enlighten me? Cheers BJ Edited April 11, 2007 by Bigjeeze Quote
Andrew T Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I've checked and mine behaves the same. The Oil pressure warning light comes on with the ignition as a check of the warning light, not of oil pressure itself.I presume it's timed to go off having done its job. Quote
raymac Posted April 12, 2007 Report Posted April 12, 2007 I think i had this on my passat diesel as well as the gal, on the sump there is a sensor which monitors the oil level when not running and there is a oil light switch somewhere else on the engine that monitors the pressure so it's like a double safety feature, clever these germans <_< Quote
