Sat Nav Gps Aerial / Radio Aerial

Hi all, my Gal is equpped with factory satnav. On roof of Gal at back is an aerial. Flat round part and a short stubby part attached to it. I realise this is the GPS aerial, but is it also the radio aerial? I was under the impression the radio aerial was in O/s rear window?? As i have rear A/c, only O/s window opens electrically - so is this an aerial or not? And does the roof aerial have capability of being used as a mobile phone aerial??

Any advice?

Merry christmas to one and all

Radio aerial is on rhs of vehicle (offside) for rhd cars - not sure about lhd but suspect that it is on the same window - and it does open - there is a clever link that maintains contact with the aerial when the window is open.

I suspect that you cannot use either of your existing radio/GPS aerials for a mobile phone and will need a separate one for that - unless the one in your phone works sufficiently well.

Merry Christmas!

Whern I was looking at the Sat Nav aerials for my Gal, I looked at Mondeo aerials as I have a Mondeo Sat Nav unit (VNR900). There were 4 options of wiring loom depending on what options the car came with. There was only one mast and I think base unit option so based on this, yes if you have the correct loom and another interface unit, the Sat nav aerial may also work for your phone. On the other hand, I find Tax Disc phone aerials very effective. infact, no diferent to car's I drive with a glass mount etc. Good luck.
