big_kev Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I beleive Admin deliberately b*gger up the priviliges for new users either to keep the spambots out or because they like doing it. Front wipers...clean and degrease your spindles as in http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...pic=6863&hl ABS light on...indicates failure of ABS system...nothing to worry about just means your ABS is not working, debatable whether this is good or bad...lots of differnet opinions about ABS..however this will be an MOT fail....could be a number of things but most likely problem with sensor...check they are not caked in mud and the wiring to them is in good order...they rarely fail but a good ford mechanic will happily change them for new ones...charge you the earth and leave you with the same problem. Alarm....not familiar with the alarm on the MK2....if it has a motion detector it will probably go of if any windows are open...hopefully someone else will help you with this. Rear Washer....could be the obvious blocked or faulty water pipe...think this is the one that leaks underneath the passenger seat....alternatively could be the electrical connection...the wire tend to get broken as they pass through the offside rear frame to the door....check for voltage at pump if fitted at rear door...again not to familiar with MK2 the pump could be in the front. Auxilliary heater ......I assume you mean the external heater underneath the car...if so search the posts for booster heater lots on this...if you mean the rear heater inside then check the fuse first...cant remember which one check manual or again search the posts. Screen always foggy.......could be blocked scuttle drains...this could also affect your wipers as the motors could end up in a puddle If these are your only faults you've got a good one Quote
crafty Posted April 3, 2007 Author Report Posted April 3, 2007 Thanks for taking the time to answer Kev - I'll tackle them one at a time as I cant afford to have 'em all done at the garage! If anyone can help with the problem I have with not being able to see pics, that would be a big help in me being able to fix these thingsCheersCrafty Quote
tim-spam Posted April 3, 2007 Report Posted April 3, 2007 ABS problem could also be one of the toothed rings on the outer CV joints - this is not unheard of. Quote
crafty Posted April 4, 2007 Author Report Posted April 4, 2007 Thanks for all the advice. I tackled the wipers today. Thanks to all the info on here (by the way I can now see pictures so thanks to whoever fixed that!) One side very tight and freed off ok with wd40 and a clout. Other side completely seized (had to get a scaffold pole on the end to move it (how on earth did the motor move that?). Finally got it free using wd40 and in the end a blowtorch and alot of clout. Anyway they now work like a charm and I can spin them with me fingers! Total time 4 hours. Wold have been less had I not put it all back together with one of the spindles 180 Quote
maximus Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Do they all have aux heater? And where is it? I've got a GhiaX so lot of toys but there are no controls in the rear of the car for heater so I asume that means it doesn't have one? Good luck with the ABS, I'd say check the wiring to the seatbelt pre-tensioners, it used to play up on my old Xsara all the time! Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 if you have Climate control you wont have the button on the dash or the controls on the head lineing, the buttons on the clock is for presetting a warm up time for the aux heateron the climate panel you have two sets of controls to adjust fan speed and temp, IIRC the controls on the left control the front and the ones on the right the rear Good luck with the ABS, I'd say check the wiring to the seatbelt pre-tensioners what wiring? there isnt any on the Galaxy! it's a purely mechanical/explosive  set up! Quote
maximus Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Cheers Wolfie! I guess I should read the manual, doh! As far as the pre-tensioners go, I'm just going on past experience, my Xsara used to do it all the time. So does the Galaxy not have pre-tensioners? Quote
Guest wolfie Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 it has them but they are purely mechanical! hit something or get hit hard enough and off they go! Quote
big_kev Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Pre-tensioners on Galaxys work fine.......had the bruises on my chest and shoulder to prove it......kinda negated the airbag going off though ! Quote
