Rik78 Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Hi all, I have a problem. When I turn in my Galaxy I hear a load knocking. This only happens if I am accelerating, if I coast around corners there is no noise at all. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Any help would be much appreciated. Quote
faz Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Sounds like it could be a CV joint, can anybody else confirm. Quote
morticiaskeeper Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 (edited) CV Joint. Check both joints for splits in the gaiter. I once had a CV knocking while camping in France. Bought a can of spray grease (it had a pic of a cv joint on it!) and some cable ties from the supermarket, pulled back the gaiter, filled it with grease and cable tied the gaiter back on. Sold the car 2 years later without hearing it knock once! If repacking doesn't work, it'll have to be replaced. Edited March 31, 2007 by morticiaskeeper Quote
bingo nightly Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 Almost certainly CV joint, used to have this on a regular basis on the 2 Rover 620's I owned (weak point on those). Usually down to a split gaiter allowing the grease to be washed out. Quote
Rik78 Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 Thanks for your replies. I replaced the cv joint and problem solved. Quote
