Had a quick search and couldn't find anything...

 

As per thread title. When I activate the Rear wiper, the central locking kicks in and locks all the doors! Just started happening recently, well at least if it hasn't, it doesn't seem to be a particularly useful feature ;)

 

Anyone any thoughts?

You almost certainly have wires that have chaffed together and the rear wiper is feeding the central locking circuit. If the heated rear window wiring is involved it can put a huge current down the tiny wires for the locking and wiper and burn your wiring loom. Rectification is then a huge job. Pull the fuses for all the tailgate electrical components until you

I had a sneaking suspicion it may be tailgate related as I had to fix the brakelight wire their some years back. I'll have a look sharpish as I don't want any big bills...

Sorted! (for now). But blimey what a mess.

 

In the four or so years, since I fixed the brake light wire, loads of wires have split (opened up). Two were touching, which must have been the CL and Windscreen wiper. Only really had the guts to use a judicious amount of insulating tape to make sure nothing touched. Will have to revisit at some point...
