Solo Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Hi I am new to this Forum and this is my first Topic. I have ordered a New Galaxy 2.0 TDCi Ghia, unfortunatly I couldn't get a built-in DVD navigation system, the dealer said it would be a long wait as they are short of DVD navigation unit.... The question are 1. Can I fit a DVD navigation system from the market, which one do you recommend (I have a tomtom in a Ipaq which I use with my current car, I want a built in navigation for my galaxy) 2. This galaxy comes with 6 CD changer, can this be still used if I fit the DVD navigation3. Recommed any shop I can get this fitted near Crawley in West Sussex4. Will this void the guarantee Thanks Quote
jkspoff Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 (edited) I can't help you with your question, but I am jealous, as the car sounds superb and I would love one of the new ones ! I have a TomTom sat nav unit thats cheap and cheerful and amazingly accurate. Edited March 26, 2007 by jkspoff Quote
Solo Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 Yes the car looks good, this is my first Ford .... I hope it is good!! ;) Yes the Tom Tom is good, my current car was broken in but the sat nav was not in the car... so don't mind investing bit more for a built in Quote
Smilge Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Solo .... what you you need to find out is whether your existing system runs off the CAN-BUS or the newer IP-BUS. I know my CD changer runs off the CAN-BUS so that it can interface with the MFD. Ideally, the newer MFD 2 system is what you are after and it would be interesting to see if the newer Galaxy has a similar system, if so, then it might be worth contacting a VW dealer who may be able to provide you with a unit. Sounds to me as though they are pulling a fast one as they are quite difficult to fit. Expensive mind you! I would contact a good ICE dealer and have a chat with them regarding CAN-BUS etc. Hope this helps Chris Quote
gregers Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 why not have a chat with our own ice expert,STEVE69CAR he should be able to point you in the right direction, hth. Quote
Solo Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 Bleeno Thanks, I will look in the manual when the car is delivered. Thanks all for your comments Quote
AndyBee Posted August 17, 2007 Report Posted August 17, 2007 Solo Did you resolve this ? I suspect you were/are in for any expensive job here and a stand alone unit will be the way to go. By the way, the small side window (in front of the side door) is an ideal place to site a "sucker-mounted" self contained sat-nav - not in the way of vision, but actually easier to see that the built in unit.
