mumof4 Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Can you repair a corroded pipe on the exhaust, the one that goes into the box?..without having to replace the section of pipe?or will i have to repair that section of pipe?I know i shall have to replace the box, i just wondered if there was a way i could sort the pipe out that goes into it without having to replace the whole of the pipe that goes all the way up under the car. tiny Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Unfortunately exhausts are (IMO) very rarely worth repairing, usually your chasing your tail fixing one part after another. There are however various "cures" available for repairing exhausts and i have at some point or another tried then all! Things such as exhaust bandages, and repair pastes(do they still make Gun Gum?) can produce reasonable results but its hard to say without seeing the damage! You could try getting it welded, but unless you know a friendly welder you could end up paying as much as a new pipe. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 depends what pipe it is? the system consists of two boxes after the cat, the rear silencer is just that! it has no long lengths of pipes on it, the center box is the one with all the pipes, depending on the condition of the rear box? it may be possible to just replace the center box? but most fast fit place wont be interested in doing that! they will replace the whole system in one hit as it's quicker and easier have you checked on the prices of getting it all/part replaced from a local garage, fast fit place yet?
