mikeohope Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Hello all, I have a 2006 Mk2 Galaxy. I have been thinking what to do about upgrading the in car entertainment. I have 3 kids. Two who will go nuts on long journeys and one who will just sleep (only 3 months). I have decided that portable DVD systems mounted to the headrests are probably best for the Kids as I want the flexibility to be abale to remove them and use them out of the car as well. I am going to go for units with IR headphones to reduce the cables. I am going to upgrade the main Head unit seperately and do not want it to interface with the kids DVDs so it can be a standalone unit. I want to provide permanent power to the portable DVD locations at the headrest on each of the front seats so that I am not reliant on batteries. Where is the best place to take a power feed from and what is the best way to run/hide the cables? Is it possible to run it up the inside of the seats and how would you do this? I am sure this must have been done many times. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike Quote
adrianf. Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I keep a set of water proof seat covers on my front seats all the time because of my job and i find them fab for hiding the screens when not in use . I have run the cables down the side of the seat near the arm rest so they are 90% out of sight. When the kids want to watch the screen i just lift the seat cover up over the screen and pull it back down when finished. Its not ideal for some people to have the covers fiited all the time but it works well for me.Next i want to fit the player into the center storage box on the dash rather than under the seat but time is the problem, and then take the power from the radio so it goes off with the ignition rather than having it in the ciggy lighter.
