Well... not strictly mine. It's my wifes as she's a registered childminder, she needs the 7 seats.

Hoping that I don't have too many problems with it, but fear not, I'll ask here if I do.

It's a 1.9TD 115BHP by the way.

welcome to mayhem.lol..Nice looking motor...

Always a good idea to edit out your number plate on any pics you post.

Very true about the plate, but it won't be on there long as we have a cherished transfer going on soon.

now that's spooky!!

my galaxyis also pepper red although yours is a year newer and my mrs needed the 7 seats cos she's a registered childminder isn't it weird that the only reason we buy these damn volkswagons is cos the wife wanted one! would never have brought one if she didn't insist she needed it

Personally I'd rather have seen a pic of your capri!!

Had several over the years, but admittedly not for the last 15 or so (or as quick as yours), still think there awesome motors though. The only problem is they seem to magically come out of corners facing backwards, at least mine used to, still got the scars!

Tickford eh? rare as rocking horse sh1te, whats the other?

Hiya, Ive also just joined this site recently and its a hive of information.

Keep an eye on your aux heater and front wiper mechanism. I'm now having problems with auto gearbox. I'm not scare mongering, I love the Galaxy but they do have a few common faults. Mine has 104,000 miles and apart from not wanting to drive backwards its fine!

No, not a Tickford, a Turbo Technics

Anyway, need to ask a couple of Galaxy q's in the next few days... such as cam belt and door card replacement, but in the mean time, heres my other cars:

The 2.1 Laser (from a recent "Classic Ford" magazine shoot)

I had a 2 litre Laser, in Paris blue mettalic. I loved that car and would have another one tomorrow. I well remember when I used to park the car and walk away, I would never be able to resist looking back at the handsome lines of it. Though I did used to get a bit pissed off at the dumbarse comments by people who thought it was clever to slag Capri's off. Funny thing was, no body who ever actually owned one has anything but fond memories of them.

In fact it was my desire for a 2.8 injection at the time and not being able to have one, that prompted my decision to buy the 2.8 Galaxy that I have now that I have a little more cash.

whoever stuck the body kit and spots on the laser needs shooting, preferably in a place that allows them to bleed to death slowly! so they have time to think about their crimes against capri's or we could just nail them to the rear wing and set fire to them  kill two birds with one stone remove the wing and remove the culprit who fitted it from the face of the planet

not for long

Coming home from work this evening, sun shining and the window open, (an obvious requirement due to the climate control not working!) the sound of that wonderfull engine made running costs irrelevant. I have been driving vehicles fitted with Doctor Diesels evil invention all day, to transport things from a to b, and as a slow and noisy but efficient tool for a particular job, they work very well, but when it comes to pleasure then only a large, smooth multi cylinder petrol engine does it for me. This is compounded somewhat by the 'phone conversation I had at the weekend with a mate who has a Galaxy Tdi, and is going to either chip it or sell it, as the "performance" is so poor.

In short, I feel that life is too short to rub your fingerless gloved hands together in a Shylock like manner, recoicing in the few quid that you have saved by having a miserable time.

Oh, dear I must find some Settlers, as the swan pate and truffles are repeating on me somewhat.

That would be me then... I've had that car 13 years. The rear wing was actually a genuine Ford option from the RS catalogue...

I think that opinions such as yours should be kept to ones self.

on the Galaxy side of things... cam belt change... 1.9TDI... how much should I be paying?

13 years! :16: and in all that time am I the only person to say out loud how ugly that rear wing is? and to keep you happy, I'll keep my opinion of the pig ugly body kit that does sod all to enhance the lines of the body or the colour codeing that makes it look like a chess set and dont get me started on the rectangular spots stuck on the front bumper next to the round head lights..... to myself :16: did you miss the episode of play school where they explained style and function......

a war nelly boy :16: nah just an opinion on a classic car that's been butchered :(

Well Wolfie I too love the classics hence the two GT6's that grace my garage and not a square spot light in sight, although I do have a nice line in wing mounted chrome bullet style mirrors.

Tickford? my mistake, was slipping into rose tinted spectacle mode.

My first was a 1.6 GT4 a rare(ish) MKIII based on the 1600L with the 6 pot dash from the sport and big fat stripes down the side. I have a nice scar on my forehead to remember her by!

My favourite was a 2.0GL with the engine from a mates RS2000 that had been cam'ed and ported with twin webbers and a fabricated exhaust manifold with only a large dia' backbox on a homebrew exhaust, 2.8i front seats with no door strips or badges. It was gold, sounded horrendous and went everywhere with either the throttle or the brakes in "full on mode", I loved that car.

There were many others too but I will always remember "Goldie"

Forgive my ignorance but why would this be a problem? If someone wanted to know a registration number of a galaxy they could just walk down the street. Whats the difference in showing a picture of yours on the net?

I'm asking as I just happened to read this post on the way to putting on pictures of MY FIRST GALAXY!!! Yes, I've finally bought one :-))) though I haven't actually seen it yet :-/ .

Thanks,

Neil.

Brecause a lot more people will view your car on the net than they will walking down the street.Car number plate copying is a huge thing with crime.if you want to show your plate..that is up to you.

Another way..we all say on here what we do to our cars what we put in them etc..like sat nav dvd etc..if you show your plate, it aint gonna be that hard for a wannabe theif to track you down and lighten you of everything you have in your gal.

Youve bought a gal without seeing it?how come?

Hi Mum,

I saw a great sounding one for sale and I'm going on trust. I know it's a bit risky but I'm a trusting kind of guy, and I've been assured that everything inside and outside of the car works as it should :o . The car was too far away for me to see it. Collecting it will mean a 500 mile round trip, but at least it will give me chance to get used to driving it :o

I've never had 2 cars before. I will be selling my old one soon as I was suprised to find I couldn't have both cars insured with my no clames discount. They said I would have to start again with my Galaxy! I managed to change my no claims over to the Galaxy, but that means I have only 14 days left to sell my current car ;) Anybody after a nice reliable Daewoo Nexia GLXi ? I was hoping to keep it for a month or two incase of Galaxy teething troubles and to use while I get front and back parking sensors put in.

Never mind, that's life for you,

Neil.
