Ok, so I replaced me Glowplug over a week ago and for the first time ever the little jet noise tried to start but no ignition, but I had not had the lead to reset.

So today I got the lead got it talking to the car and found some faults had been logged cleared them down and, nothing! well the car has been used for 2 half mile journeys today and I guess its not that cold, water temp said 50 when I was trying it outside temp maybe around 7c, I guess i need to wait till tonight let it get well cool before trying again.

It looks like that with this free software version of the VAG-COM you cannot do the 3 output test which i guess would tell me a lot, although im a Paramedic not a mechanic :-)

Can anyone tell me on the VAG-COM if I want to do the full scan what chassis type do you key in??? 7M-VW SHARAN ??? I aint got a clue, any help or your thoughts would be great, thanks, Steve.

You should be able to go to i think 18 aux heater and scan it. If it finds module look at fault codes and clear them.Aux Heater should start up from cold if outside temprature is 10c or under.

To do full scan it is the sharan, but it will take ages and not really worth it as you are only looking at the heater module.

Hope this helps

Thanks Brad, its just getting someone who has done it a few times to run through it with me, sounds like I have done all the right stuff, Its going to be -2c tonight here in the Norwich Area, so I will nip out later and start it again to see if it fires up, but so far it has remained stone cold and silent!!! I keep wondering if I have trapped the fuel line when I changed the glow plug and refitted??? anyone done this ? is it likely?

WELL !! Nothing , since I bought the car 6 weeks ago I have only heard the little motor/fan start up a few times although no fire up, this was after fitting a new glow plug, since I have attached the VAG-COM and cleared the faults (and im real sorry to say I didnt write them down!) I have had nothing despite a Minus temp last night, checked VAG-COM it says "NO FAULTS" ???? I guess I will have to take it down and check fuel line and wiring connector

my booster heater works fine since cleaning the glowplug and doesn't smoke at all any more.

One thing I have found is that if I start the car and leave in running, the heater will come on then turn off after a few minutes if I don't drive the car. As soon as you drive it fires up again.

BRAD, try checking the wires to the heater fuel pump, on my old gal thay had coroded off.

I thought there were only two output tests for the booster heater, namely Blower and Metering Pump.

I think I too would go with pulling it apart again and checking over my work just in case something is wrong.
