Headlight Switch

hi guys, the roll button inside the car that makes the headlights move up and down aint working , i have changed both bulbs but only now noticed that the switch which has 3 levels for the headlights dont work any ideas i have read in the forums about it but cant see it being my problem as i have changed the bulbs thanks smoggy

iirc take a look in the faqs about headlight motors,hth.

sounds like you might have dislodged the mechanism that moves the headlights when you changed your bulbs.

 

can you hear the motors moving when you adjust the beam level ??

hi thanks for the reply, the garage relined them for the mot last month so it might have been them,where is the mechanism for the lights located ? and i cant hear the motors moving for them either as before i could and they dont go up and down at all as i checked on the driveway wall tonight when it was dark is this an easy acess work to do thanks smoggy

I have the same problem with my Galaxy, i think they might try to move and maybe one moves but they don't seem to be working correctly, maybe my motors have come loose from the cables.

hi guys, ok which side is the motor in the drivers side or the passenger side or is there a motor in the 2 of them? also can someone confirm that on the dial on the dash numbered 1-3 is facing upside down as on mine the numbers are facing upside down and not facing you is this correct as i really never noticed it before lol thanks again will have a look on the weekend when i got more time cheers smoggy

There is a motor in each headlamp.

 

You will find them at the bottom corner inside the headlamp itself (you will have to remove the headlamp).

 

seems strange both going at the same time wonder if the switch is to blame?

hi, ok i have had a quick look the motors are working as i can hear them but i think they are stuck as they run on to long, but when i tap it it stops, how the hell do you get at the torque screw at the side it is about 7 inches in the hole lol what size torque screwdriver do i need to get for it length that is thanks smoggy

Think it is a 25 torx

I used an extention piece to get to mine, had to realign the lamps last night as I have upgraded to HID, my motors had stopped working properly but realigning them has sorted them out.
