Jimbo73 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Hello All, Has anyone ever had a noisy (really noisy) fan motor by the radiator. The noise comes and go's, obviously when its running the noise is like a loud rubbing squeeky type noise. Any ideas? Is it hard to change? How competent do you have to be to change it? Where is the best place to get one from? Look forward to your help and replies.. Quote
Guest wolfie Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 are you sure it's the fans? possible aux drive belt problem? noisy idler or tensioner pully? Quote
Jimbo73 Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 are you sure it's the fans? possible aux drive belt problem? noisy idler or tensioner pully? The noise only happens when the fan is running, so I assume its that. When the engine is running, there is no noise, it only comes about when the fan kicks in... Does the fan run off the drive belt.... BTW I sprayed it with WD40 this morning and the noise has gone...... Cant leave it like that though.. Would hate for something to go when the wife and kids are out in the car.. Quote
Jimbo73 Posted March 24, 2007 Author Report Posted March 24, 2007 So i guess no one else has had this problem.....And no help available Quote
Guest wolfie Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 The fans are electric and although the motors are replacable from what I can see there are no sevicable parts available for the motor to rebuild them ;) either keep spraying the WD40 in there and hope it lasts? live with the noise or replace the noisy fan motor Quote

Guest wolfie Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 It doesnt look that hard a job! the fans appear to be able to be removed seperately from the radiator/fan shroud, an AC pipe needs to unbolted from the top of the rad and pulled to one side, then a couple of bolts and the fan looks like it lifts clear? It has been okay for the moment, but when the noise starts, I am getting some really weird looks off people. It sounds like it is about to go bigtime when it starts... Thanks for all the help...... Will keep WD40'ing the rad, until i get brave enougn to do the job...... Or it goes kaput.. many thanks, Quote
