santefe999 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 :D Hi and apologies to everyone if I'm doing this wrong but this is my first attempt to post a topic. Can any one please tell me how to get the perspex cover off the fuse box of my 2003 TDI Ghia 130PS. I've pushed and I've pulled but do you think I can get the cover off? Any help would be appreciated. Santefe999 Quote
Smilge Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 You'll probably find someone has fitted it upside down .... I had the same problem but managed with a lot of fiddling .... try and pull the top left and right edges towards you with a fair bit of pressure. If not, try the bottom edges. Thats when I found out there should be only one way to fit it because of the keyways. There's always one who forces it on without thinking! :D Quote

santefe999 Posted March 16, 2007 Author Report Posted March 16, 2007 Thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home. Watch the news for reports of a big black cloud over Canterbury! Seriously though, I can't believe a simple job could be so difficult!Santefe999 Quote

Canterbury hey? know it well from my long distant past. I lived just outside Ashford and had some very good school freinds in Faversham. You would think that I'd learn wouldn't you? This is my second and both have filled up with water! Need to get the kids some scuba gear. I need to get to the fuses to check if the parking sensor fuse has blown. I've cleaned the circuit board up and dried it out but the blooming things still won't work! Quote
Smilge Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 The dreaded passenger footwell syndrome? ..... mmmm .... all the problems on mine have been self-induced, otherwise dead chuffed with it. So wheres the parking sensor module and how's it getting wet? Quote

So wheres the parking sensor module and how's it getting wet? Its under the front passenger seat in the well (literally). The well fills with water and the electrics become waterlogged. I'm wondering if this has caused the fuse to blow - hence my original question. The galaxy is a really useful vehicle but has some really puzzling design faults! Quote
Dave-G Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Ah - looks like Mr. Bleeno at the back of the class hasn't been paying attention :D Write us 500 lines please - "I must look into the rear washer pipe thread" :P Quote
santefe999 Posted March 16, 2007 Author Report Posted March 16, 2007 Ah - looks like Mr. Bleeno at the back of the class hasn't been paying attention :D Write us 500 lines please - "I must look into the rear washer pipe thread" :PThe rear washer pipe was my first suspect but after robust interrogation was found to be totally innocent. The cause of the water ingress was totally blocked front wheel arches inside the plastic guards which caused the water in the tray beneath the wipers to spill over into the cat interior. These have now been cleared and, hopefully with regular maintenance will be problem free in the future. I'm left with all sorts of electrical problems mainly the parking sensors and a flashing climate control panel. The air con has been topped up and is working of sorts but until I can summon up enough courage to book the car into "Henry's" I will not be able to determine what the actual fault code is reading. Has anyone ever tried to use a VW garage to plug their computer into the Galaxy terminal? Well they can't!!! The plug is different despite the vehicle mainly consisting of VW bits. I'm losing even more hair, and I can't afford either the Ford dealership prices or the loss of folicals!!Santefe999 Quote
Smilge Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 500 Dave!? yeh ..you would have thought I would have remembered that, but mine didnt fill the black hole underneath the passenger seat full of water. Sounds to me like the water ingress problem through the bulkhead or is that another 500 lines? ........ did you get the fuse box cover off Santefe999? Quote
