Well now have the window tints done and I must say he has done a realy good job i would certainly recommend him ... and with a flat rate of

Looks really good and for that price you cant argue. I've been looking around Hertfordshire for the same with my S-max and the cheapest I've found is

Mr tint is a really good place to go that were our got done his flat rate is good i got quotes that were upto 5 times as much!

I was quite impressed with the standard of work and the guy threw in a free sun visor tint. Must admit though, yours looker darker than my factory fitted tints.

Looks nice but I think it would look better if you had 75% at the front because the Galaxy windows are higher the light penatrates easy , I have been stopped twice at night and never had anything said about my fronts and they are 50%.

Can anyone recommend a tinting firm in Hertfordshire or London(north or east) as I work in Canary Wharf and could drop my car off on the way to work?

Yes bleeno i opted for limo tint iinstead of the factory light smoke.............now saves me having to fit a cover in the rear though.

Bought myself a Galaxy last week. The rear windows are tinted but not the frost. A friend recommended gettingthem done (he has his Polo tinted all round), but I don't want to risk doing anything illegal. I seem to remember though that you can get UV tints or similar. Does anyone have experience of this?

I am in the process of doing my windows. I said before that I would stick with the clear ones but - with the sunny weather coming up, have given in.

 

Bought some tint film off Ebay - cant mention the Ebay shop name for obvious reasons but have left negative feedback as their customer service was the worst I have ever encountered (seems to do a pretty high turn over, lots of good feedback with some really, really bad ones as well - me included. They were late very delivering (two weeks instead of the promised next day delivery) and sent the wrong product)

 

Have done the rear pop-outs with no probs (best done removed from the car)- film sticks to the shaded black area around the edges ok. Tried the rear screen - too curved - would not lay flat. Are going to do the middle up/down ones this weekend.

 

I had though about making a huge sun shade out of some see through netting - like stocking material wrapped around some wire from B+Q (coathanger thickness) might go back to this idea but have enough film left over for another go at the rear screen. Will do it in two or three pieces this time to avoid the points where it will not go flat - even though I ordered the heat shrinkable stuff which it isn't.

 

A few people around my estate have used netting on the outside of the windows - securing it in place with the closed window. Dark, but looks out of place - Matt finish glass on a shiny car.

Thanks for the link. It looks good. I'm just unsure about all the stuff about bonding the glass in place, water leaks, new (ripped) rubber seals, rust etc.

Well that was another morning wasted. Film didn't work. :lol:

 

Made the shade out of wire and net, it looks the biz. :lol:

 

Took the inside trim off the tail gate and put it in so you can't see the difference. Putting the film on the back up/downers tomorrow.

HAD MY WINDOWS DONE ABOUT A WEEK AGO NOW AT FIRST GLANCE THAY LOOKED GREAT, IT WAS RAINING AT THE TIME WHEN WE PICKED UP SO DIDNT TAKE MUCH NOTICE, THE DAY AFTER I WENT TO WORK AND HER INDOORS WENT TO INVESTIGATE THE JOB THAY HAD DONE AND FOUND AIR BUBBLES GALORE A CUT IN THE FILM WHICH SHE WAS NOT HAPPY WITH, HER BEING THE MAIN DRIVER OF THE BUS ON THE SCHOOL RUNS WITH MY 2 KIDS AND MY 2 NEICES SHE TOLD ME TO PHONE AND COMPLAIN AND YES SHE WEARS THE TROUSERS ANYTHING FOR A QUIET LIFE, I PHONED THEM BACK AND SHE TOOK IT BACK TO THEM AND THAY REPLACED 3 OF THE WINDOWS I GIVE THEM THERE DUES THAY DID SORT IT OUT BUT MY WIFE SAID RELUTANTLY IF THAY DONE A GOOD JOB FIRST TIME THAY WOULD HAVE BEEN OK STILL GOT THERE IN THE END TRIED POSTING PICS BUT CANT SEEM TO GET THEM TO LOAD ON HERE MIGHT BE TO LARGE.

Bought some film off ebay, 6 meters for 13 quid all in, thought ex mechinic, fitted loads of vehicle lettering over the years, how hard can it be :ph34r:

 

My advice to anyone doing this is don't do it, leave to the pro's, after 3 hours last night of heating scrapping, spraying and swearing, my job was finished, perfectly clear windows with a pile of limo black tint screwed up on the floor :16: , i just smiled to myself and glad i only wasted 13 quid. happy days

 

from there i have been and googled tinter's in the yeovil taunton area, if anyone can recommend one that would be great.

Without giving too much away, who did you buy it off?

Probably the same peeps as me. What windows were you trying to do? Galaxy back door window is too curved - even though they were supposed to have sent the heat shrinkable stuff.
