Ex-Galaxy person Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Hi All, This is linked to ye olde and well documented booster heater issue....mine actually works, but it has to be really cold before it kicks in. I'm hoping we're past the really cold weather now (but next week looks a bit chilly though!), and I'd like to improve the way the booster operates before next winter. I've read several posts about bypassing the external temperature sensor during the winter, or fitting a parallel switch; however, I can't locate my temp sensor. It doesn't appear to be on the passenger wiper linkage. I have found what looks like a temp sensor at the front of the engine bay, held by a loose plastic clip just by the n/s headlight. Is this it? I have a late Mk1 TDi Zetec 110BHP (2000 W reg). Did the location of the temp sensor change with the MkII model? cheers, Phillip Quote
Dave-G Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 AFAIK there are two, you found the one that controls AC. The relevant one - for the aux heater is attached to the hidden part of a wiper linkage, in front of the pollen filter. It's 'snapped into a plastic carrier Quote

JohnR Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Thanks Dave - I'll take another look.... Phillip On later models, its (sometimes??) down behind a vent in the bumper, by the drivers side fog lamp. Dont think this came in till summer 2001. You can squirt it with iced water to force it as a test. John Quote

After I changed the Aux heater glowplug I shorted out the one on the wipers and got the heater to start up to check it. That sounds a good way to test it John - or maybe a squirt from a gas lighter refill can :D Quote
