IIRC it's 7mm. An odd size common on Ford calipers. I guess VW didn't supply the brakes.

Most car shops will have one. Draper do them in a blister pack

The calipers have VW stamped onto them, so is 7mm still okay ??

I can't remember the size for the rear calipers, but the pins on the front calipers definitely need a 7mm allen key, so it may be a good idea to get one anyway as you will need it when you change the front pads. 7mm allen keys are needed in quite a few places, especially on brakes supplied by ATE and dampers supplied by Bilstein or Boge. I think you will find that this is not unique to Ford or VW.

You can get a 3/8" drive 7mm allen key bit from Halfords.

Hope this helps.

And the answer is...................

you need a 13mm socket to remove the two bolts on the rear calipers.

Couldnt work out the size so i used the kids play dough to make a mold of the fitting. 7mm seems the standard size for Gals. I bought a 7mm hex bolt adapter for my socket set from Hellfrauds.... something like

and 15mm open ended spanner to hold the nuts on the spring loaded sliders.

My Front Calipers use the 7mm hex I bought years ago.

Hi

Having undone the spring loaded sliders with both a 13mm and 15mm spanner ..... what socket do I need to remove the caliper hanger to change the discs? is it a T50 bit? Regards
