does anyone know of a product out there that will safely allow me to anchor a child seat to the centre seat in the middle row without permanently altering the car?. I find the inertia real lap belt a little deficient in thet area and I don't fancy putting my 4 year old into this seat either.

Hi KD,

My wife's a child minder and we have 4 grandchildren, at present we have a Britax First Class seat, it is suited to newborn to 18kg ( birth to approx 4 years )

I am sure you can get them for older children, this type of seat is ideal for centre seats because the lap strap provided you have adjusted right holds the seat solid, and the child is restrained by the seats own straps.

Pop along to Halfords they will be able to advise you much better in relation to your childs weight and size to the most suitable seat, also i am not sure if they still have an offer on that when your child out grows the seat they will reimburse a percentage of the cost provided that the seat is in good condition.

Hope this is of help

You can get inertia seatbelts to fit the centre of most cars. I fitted one to my last car,a Peugoet 405 Estate. It did involve drilling a mounting hole through the boot floor to mount it, so whether or not there would be room between the middle and rear seats or if you would want to drill through the floor on your Galaxy I don`t know. Have a look on the Securon site and see if they do anything for Galaxy`s and the like or call in at your nearest Partco as they do supply them.

I have also experienced the probs with fitting kiddies seats to centre seats in the past. With our first kid, we had a Britax 'Club Class' seat which was held in very tightly by a static lap belt in the middle seat of an old BMW. Along comes sprog #2, and we had to use the outer seats with their inertia belts. Initially this wasnt too much of a problem, but on changing car to a Rover Tourer, I never felt that the seats were held as securely with inertia belts, so I augumented the inertia belt with two webbing straps that hold the kids seats tightly against the back rest of the seat. Makes it slightly more awkward to remove the seats and fold seats down, but its a small price to pay when the security of the seat is massively increased.

Will be trying this method on the Gal this Friday as travelling through France, and their laws (I seem to remember) insist that any child must be in a proper child / booster seat - something I can get away with here in the NL (and the age of the kids).

the biggest problem I have with this is that for some reason I seem to have the only middle seat on the plannet that has a single lap belt that is ineria real???

My previous MPV also had an inertia centre lap belt which had been designed for the American market (ie v. long!), and again, using the webbing straps worked on the (admittedly very few) times I used a kids seat in the centre position

I will get a hold of a camera tonight and post tomorrow, if you ar just looking for these isofix points look at the point on theseat wherer the seat part meets the back and pull the material apart there should a metal loop at either side of the seat, if so this is isofix but as I say I will put pictures up tomorrow.

I looked at the brittax compatibilty sheets and the olny ford they list is the transit van, this is obvoiusely wrong.
