I am planning to replace the oil & filter on my 2003 1.9 TDi 130. I know that this is a very basic question but where is the Oil filter physically located and how easy is it to get to. Also do I need to fit a new sump plug washer when I drain the sump. Finally what is the torque setting for the sump plug.

Oil filter is the element tyoe, not the canister type.

Remove the plastic engine cover to reveal the oil filter housing on the right of the block.

There is a huge black nut on top that once removed allows the element to be removed.

Sorry, forgot the tightening torques:

Sump Plug 30Nm, 22lb/ft

Oil filter "Nut" 25Nm, 18lb/ft

Merry oil change and a Happy New Year
