Dear members,

I have finally resloved my problems re-installed a multimedia into my Galaxy - see my postings. Are there any members out there that have in their possesssion or have information for as good as new centre console with dvd and aux cut-out. I have a console for the vcr model which has restricted space to install dvd. Anthracite (Mid- Grey) in colour required. Any help in a good second hand one or a new one very welcome.

Kind Regards

Hi again

Glad that the electronics are all working for you now.

I don't have a spare centre console, but I can tell you that the cutout at the bottom for the DVD player looked like it was cut out as an afterthought - so with some careful measuring and cutting you should be able to convert yours. Apart from the cigarette lighter power point being to the side in the VCR version, I don't think that the DVD centre console is different in any other way.

I can confirm that the fit is VERY tight with DVD, module, cables, back of cigarette lighter, etc all really crammed into the console - the power cable to the back of the cigarette lighter in particular rubs up against the edge of the metal inner frame.

Getting the whole lot to fit in involves some trial and error. In particular the screws that pass down from the four corners of the lidded compartment at the top are supposed to screw into plastic receiving slots at the top of the module to hold everything rigidly in place - and it's a bugger to line everything up with the metal frame when that is weighted down by the DVD player attached to it at the front end, but slipping in and out of the DVD rearward facing slot in the console.

If I recall correctly the screws supplied by Ford looked too large so I used smaller ones from somewhere else - I didn't fancy putting screws that were too large throught the circuit board of that damned expensive module!

One particular trick here is NOT to place the control/headphones/power panel until last - you have to have it wired up, but you can push-click it into place as the very last part to be positioned. This allows you to use its cutout to manoeuvre the frame and innards of the console until they are in the correct place. Once the control panel is clicked into place the only way to remove it easily is to slide it downwards once the DVD player has been removed.

As another warning be very careful with the screws that hold the console in place - if it is even slightly off centre then the compartment lid fouls on the driver or co-driver armrests. I would advise plenty of dry runs before drilling the holes for the securing screw anchors.

Dear Gadgetoid,

Thank you for info. Found a thread on the forum and bought new console + brackets. Excellent price and hopefully familiar with layout as same as the Sharan I installed. Only worry is the 12V adapter as it sticks out at side on the VCR console and is integrated into AUX panel. Will follow your advice on connections. Can`t wait to finish. Took on an MFD install for my sins but Marky gave me a good contact who was suuuuperb! Easier to install than an Audi sat nav. Only problem is map loading as I think the firmware needs upgrading and can`t find a thread to help on upgrade info. May put a post on the forum for some pointers,

Many thanks agaian
