Ford 5000 Single Cd Player

I have a 2001 Galaxy Zetec Tdi with Ford CD player 5000 unit. Does anyone know what shock delay, how many seconds, there is with this unit.

Even going over the slightest bump when playing a CD causes the CD to jump, shurely there should be some some delay with this CD player.

I have a Mondeo ST24 with a factory fitted 5000 head unit and 6 CD autochanger, as you will appreciate the suspension on my car is somewhat harder than yours, despite going over speed bumps at a reasonable speed I have yet to experience skip on my autochanger.

 

Is your autochanger securely fitted? It would seem that something is moving about to cause the problems you have experienced.

I thought the 5000 unit was a cassette radio only - with Multichanger controls? Is yours a single slot unit, (if so it will be a 6000) or is it a cassette radio witha multichanger?

Sorry for the wrong information. It is a 6000 single CD / radio.

Nothing appears loose in the mountings for the unit.

Mine dont jump unless I hurtle over an unseen hole or somat,which has to count as hardly surprising.

Have a 6000 CD/Radio in our 6 year old Fiesta, only skips if you hit a BIG pothole otherwise a very robust unit.

 

Time for clens clean maybe?
