Guest chrispon Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 After filling the rad bottle I spilt some water in the area behind the battery and since then the temp guage seems to only work periodically!but if the guage is not reading and I brake or turn it mostly comes back on,the temp guage works from measuring a resistance so could the water be effecting this in some way or is tis a common fault and just coincidence .Also when I start my galaxy [2.3glx] usually after a long stop eg overnight it some times wont start it turns over but wont fire and I can hear a relay behind the dash clicking in and out furiousely, possibly the 30 fuel relay, but after switching it off and then back on again it starts first time.one thing that is stange is that when it hasnt started the buzzer wich alerts you to your lights being left on sounds!!!!!! Guest chrispon Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Well I solved both of the problems!!new temp guage @12ish quid, not had any dodgy readings since[dont forget to put some jointing compound on the plug threads or it will just keep on screwing in to the thermo housing ,which is plastic!!]and replaced relay 30,first of all the engine got that bad that it would'nt start at all so I removed the relay took the cover off it and carefully cleaned the contact points, and on the back of the board it had some grayish marks across some of the circuit points so I removed them to,guess what it started first time every time,I have since replaced the relay just to be on the safe side, funny thing was the ford main dealer would'nt belive there was a relay numbered 30 untill it took it in toshow him!!The up shot is if your galaxy some times turns over but takes a while to start normally accompanied by a lot of clicking from the fuse box area then relay30 is on its way out, mine did this for about a week or two before it quit completely so you have been warned!!!
