The Ageless Stranger Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Hi everyone, Was just wondering if anyone could help with this. I have already posted in the "Technical Questions" Forum, but it might have been better to have posted in here. I don't think its a good idea to have two posts the same so here is the link : http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=12139 If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. strouf Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 Hi, I have installed a flip down screen a couple of months ago, though my car doesn't have dual air con. You definately need to support the monitor to something other than the headlining, if you want your installation to last. If you are prepared to take your time and take out the headlining,I think you will find a way to secure the monitor supporting plate to the roof, regardless of the air vents. In my case, there was not a cross member close enough to where I wanted the screen to be (about 10cm. aft of the driver and co-driver headest) so I bought a W-shape aluminum bar.Had it bent slightly, cut to right size and secured it to the roof by two screws. Then I mounted the monitor support plate to that and replaced the headlining. Pressing the headlining up against the four studs of the plate, made them brake through and made it possible to bolt the monitor to the plate. I think something similar can be done with your car. The custom made cross member can be fitted on top or under the air vents. My guess is between the vents and the headlining. Then you will need to use some spacers, to ensure tightening the screws securing the monitor to the roof will not "warp" the air vents or anything else. This probably sounds confusing, but it's quite easy, provided that you have plenty of time and take things easy. This is because you need to take the headlining out, see what is behind, evaluate the situation and then go get the parts you need.It took me about three hours, but I have no dual climatronic, and was aware what I needed to do... Hope this was more helpfull than confusing! Quote
