bigdaddy Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 (edited) Hi, on water based paints I usually soak the area with water, and the use an old towel to dry, on oil based paints its thewhite spirit in little amounts then give it a soapy wash and use the old towel to dry did you not put protect material down on the carpet before you painted,,,,,,,,,,,,, :46: p.s forgot to say that was for drips of the brush/roller not full tin of paint spills,,,,,,,,,,,, Edited February 20, 2007 by bigdaddy Quote
mumof4 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Report Posted February 20, 2007 I did bigd.....wasnt me that spilt about 3 litres of the stuff on a beige carpet..can thank the bloody kids for this...id painted one room which id emptied and protected the carpet with dust sheets..id finished the room so had picked the sheets up..but the kids decided yesterday to build tents in there and the eldest decided to paint the walls and spilt what was left in the 5 litre paint can which was about 3 litres..as id bought odourless paint i didnt know till this morn when i opened the door and saw it all..to say i was not amused is an understatement..she didnt tell me in case i got angry.. Dave-G Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Ouch - you need to do a part exchange without letting the other party very near them till it's too late :46: Quote

mumof4 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Report Posted February 20, 2007 I sort of went a bit red in the face with the effort of not screaming....i then calmly said accidents happen and that she should have told me...then i said .........run.LMAO. Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 Many years ago, I knew a chap who was a magnet for anything that was going to go wrong. It was great having him around 'cos we all knew that if anything was going to go wrong, it was him that was always going to get it. I now believe that you fulfill the same function for this site and that you do it totally unaided. You must be our collective guardian angel in your own special way and with apparent good humour. Keep it up for as long as you can gel. We do appreciate it. :D :D :D Ron. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Report Posted February 20, 2007 Awwwww shucks scorp :D sooo nice to be appreciated. got most off the paint up...i used a scraper to get the bits off that were dry..i used copious amounts of papertowels and loo roll...must admit..the kids hardly bothered me..if they wanted summit they just poked their heads around the door..took one look at me muttering then went away again...was bliss.Back is killing me and my hands are red raw from the scrubbing..there is still alayer of paint on the floor which i will tackle tomorrow..i would take a pic but my camera seems to have vanished amongst all the stuff i have piled everywhere on my desk. :D Quote
gregers Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 mmmmm i could do with some car mats Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 20, 2007 Report Posted February 20, 2007 I have done this myself. I've found, if you a keep it wet/damp and keep at it it does keep improving. My missus did it with 2 litres of gloss paint - not so easy. We lived with it for years and eventually wore through the paint and down to carpet. Is that an option? :D Quote
mumof4 Posted February 20, 2007 Author Report Posted February 20, 2007 mmmmm i could do with some car mats Kids come with em!! Scorp..not an option im afraid..as MOD property has to be spotless when you hand it back or else tou get charged and handed a nice hefty bill. Quote
