big_kev Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 Some useful statistics. Motor Cyclists are 25 times more likely to be killed in a road accident than a car driver....boy do some of them deserve this. Pedal Cyclists are 5 times more likely to be killed in a road accident than a car driver....lower than I would like to see. Contrary to popular opinion most accidents involving motor cycles are the fault of the cyclist......65% on all roads. However bear in mind than in a built up area 60% of the time it is the other drivers fault....This shows you how bad the motor cyclists are in non-built up areas 95% the motor cyclists fault in these cases.... I will add more as the mood takes me Quote

I will add more as the mood takes me Well it's obvious you are neither a cyclist or a motorcyclist! A more unbalanced and frankly worrying piece of invective I have probably not seen before. You feel that Motorcyclists/cyclists deserve to be killed - Just a tad extreme don't you think? I agree that cyclists and motorcyclists can be stupid and ignorant but to label all of them suicidal and irresponsible is just totally unreasonable and unfair. It would be interesting for you to compare those stats with car drivers in the 17 - 21 year bracket - or even the 70 -80 yr bracket. Stats say what you want them to say they do not always represent the facts. It might also benefit you to look at the ratios of M/cycles/Bicycles on the road compared to cars - I know there are approx 30m cars but as to how many of the other there are I don't know, but I wonder if it works out as you say proportionally. Remind me never to ride on two wheels anywhere near you!! Quote
big_kev Posted February 21, 2007 Author Report Posted February 21, 2007 Well it's obvious you are neither a cyclist or a motorcyclist! Yep....lucky guess I think...you are correct I am neither a cyclist or a motor cyclist A more unbalanced and frankly worrying piece of invective I have probably not seen before. No idea what that means ? You feel that Motorcyclists/cyclists deserve to be killed - Just a tad extreme don't you think? Only a little tad extreme I agree that cyclists and motorcyclists can be stupid and ignorant but to label all of them suicidal and irresponsible is just totally unreasonable and unfair. Hmmm.......Hmmm........Nah ! It would be interesting for you to compare those stats with car drivers in the 17 - 21 year bracket - or even the 70 -80 yr bracket. So waht you are saying is that I am wrong to criticise cyclists who do this out of choice and you are right to criticise inexperienced drivers...which we all were at some time....and blind and decrepit drivers ....which we all will be at some time.......like the logic here Stats say what you want them to say they do not always represent the facts. Stats always represent the facts...its the type of facts they represent that can be misleading. It might also benefit you to look at the ratios of M/cycles/Bicycles on the road compared to cars - I know there are approx 30m cars but as to how many of the other there are I don't know, but I wonder if it works out as you say proportionally. Bad English, but good point....I will find out what this works out at...obviously there are a lot more cars on the road and I will see how many drivers are killed against how many cyclist. Remind me never to ride on two wheels anywhere near you!! Very good advice.......and can you pass this on to any other cyclists. Quote

Yep....lucky guess I think...you are correct I am neither a cyclist or a motor cyclist A more unbalanced and frankly worrying piece of invective I have probably not seen before. No idea what that means ? It means what it says!! -If you are able to criticise my English you should understand. ;) You feel that Motorcyclists/cyclists deserve to be killed - Just a tad extreme don't you think? Only a little tad extreme - Tortology. :P I agree that cyclists and motorcyclists can be stupid and ignorant but to label all of them suicidal and irresponsible is just totally unreasonable and unfair. Hmmm.......Hmmm........Nah ! It would be interesting for you to compare those stats with car drivers in the 17 - 21 year bracket - or even the 70 -80 yr bracket. Stats always represent the facts...its the type of facts they represent that can be misleading. Not so - it's the way the stats are presented that is misleading - you can cut an orange into 100's of pieces but it is still an orange. ;) It might also benefit you to look at the ratios of M/cycles/Bicycles on the road compared to cars - I know there are approx 30m cars but as to how many of the other there are I don't know, but I wonder if it works out as you say proportionally. I'm not a cyclist - I am a Motorcyclist, but despite your stats it'll be a car driver that knocks you down - not a motorcyclist or a cyclist!! :16: Quote
34laxy Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Where did you get your statistics...The National Enquirer? ;) Whether we're on two or four wheels it helps to look in the rear view mirrors. :16: Enjoy your weekend :16: Galaxy and scooter Quote
