MatTdi Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi Guys & Gals,My Bammer has started to misfire after it gets up to temp, ie oil temp over 90c, the time it takes to start varies.I had the codes read by a local garage and got (without numbers not very helpful I know):Injector no1 circuit errorcam position sensor error (multiple entries) I gambled on the cam sensor so I have changed it, and it still misfires.... Looking at the threads on here I reckon im in the same boat with a dodgy connection, will it be on No1 cyl and which side is No1?Its gonna have to wait till next weekend totake the top off and check it all out, its alos in need of an oil change - any possible connection?? Thansk in advance M@ Quote
Dave-G Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 (edited) Hi mat, Make sure you have a slender and flexible socket extension - a 'knuckle type if you get what I mean for one of the bolts at the rear of the cover. My problem - which it seems you may have read about occurs regardles of temperature, and seemingly only below 2000rpm. (perhaps its at higher rpms too but being masked) Most noticeable at 1500 rpm in drive or neutral. I've left it for a while to see if any fault codes get recorded - tomorrow seems a good time for another check. I suspect number 1 cylinder is the one that would be at the front of an inline engine - which is where the cambelt etc is situated. Edited February 18, 2007 by Dave-G Quote
scrote Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 My misfire came up as No 1 cylinder - which is, as you say, the furthest left if viewed from the front of the vehicle. My misfire was at first intermittent but gradually got worse but was cured by a strip down of the wiring, a clean up and re-connection with a wee nip on all the contacts to ensure a good connection. The best way to get the really awkward nut lose from the back of the cam cover is to cut your hands to ribbons and swear alot good luck Quote
MatTdi Posted February 24, 2007 Author Report Posted February 24, 2007 Hi Guys and Gals,Just a quick update, I took the cam cover off and unplugged each injector and tightened up the crimps in to connectors, gave her an oil and filter change. I have driven around for about an hour or so and so far no misfires, so its fingers crossed. Any of you wonderful people near MK with VAG as I would like to check and clear the codes without having top re-mortgage the house.... Thanks again M@ Quote
Dave-G Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Best of luck with that mate - wish mine was so simple. Quote
