Deadly DD Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Hi Chaps I really do like my Galaxy, but now the cold times are here I am freezing my nuts off when I drive her. Symptoms:The temp. gauge needle never comes goes into the centre (stays in the "cold engine" range). There is a large metal stud/boss 1" across, that is hanging loose on the end of an electric lead near to the battery in the engine compartment. Is this a heat sensor? I have found out that my Gal had a front end bash (previous owner) and has been repaired. Could this be responsible? I believe this is an electricial problem due to the above reasons and cannot believe a thermostat can pack up after 20k. Does anyone know where there is a good electrics firm in South London going down to the coast near Brighton? Your help will be rewarded with Xmas cards and a few beers, if I get warm! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 How old is the car, and how long have you had it?Thermostats can fail at low age/mileage, and if your water is not getting really hot, even after a long-ish drive, it sounds like the 'stat has failed. Quote
Dave-G Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Any chance of telling us a bit more about your car DD? Like is it tdi for example? 23 years old? any clue at all  Quote
