I'd not be readily accepting that Greg, the heater is standard equipment on every diesel Galaxy. That argument could apply to the headlamp motor... which they are fixing?

What warranty did you get with it? I'm thinking 'complaing in a loud voice while other prospective buyers are within earshot...

cant see any valid reason for them refusing to make good a standard bit on the car given the warranty - cant think it would do a lot of good to the engine(or the mpg) if you did a lot of short trips since it would not get to temperature - and thye car would be cccccooollldd - would they refuse to rectify a cabin heater fault because it didn't affect how the car drove??

What do trading standards say?

I would be lookin at a trip to the small claims court after giving them ample time in writing to get it sorted (14 days response) Do not get it sorted yourself if you want to pursue it this way ( remember the guy with the autobox about 4 months back)

well yet another update,

well after a lot of arguing with the supplying dealer, the car went back to them to be sorted out, they have taken the car to a place in kent to be fixed and have higherd us a 56 reg vauxhall zaffy  for a few days,

apparently they think they will make a saving by taking my car and another to this garage wasting 2 peoples wages in the process and fuel etc and paying for the higher car(less the

Sadly you are about to enter the time of the year when temperatures are constantly above 10C.... ( will be by the time you get the Gal back ) and like the rest of us TDi owners you will spend all the summer wondering if your booster heater is still working.....waiting for the joys of the first winter morning when that cloud of white smoke billows out from under your Gal in Sainsbury's car park and everyone looks at you....closely to be followed by looking out of the sunroof as you park "thinking god that planes low"......or as in your case after the Fraud Squad ( sorry Ford Mechanics) have been at it................................................nothing happens.

mmmmmm i thought that also, but then again i still have another 11 months of warranty left on it,

i was meant to be getting the gal back today but alas im stuck with the zaffy(gutless 1.6)for another day,so hopefully i will be getting it back tomorrow and as the temp this morning was 6.5c

i cant see it getting above the magic 10 for a couple of days yet so at least i will know(hopefully)whether the splendid mechanics   will have done the job.

WOT A BUNCH OF MUPPETS

after 4 days driving around in a mk2 zaffy(got to be the most uncomfortable car ive ever driven)i finally got the car back.AND GUESS WOT ITS STILL NOT FIXED apparently they were waiting for a part to come in(yeah rite)MORE LIKE THEY AINT GOT A SODDING CLUE ,went to start the car and the climate panel is now flashing a good en and the stereo was asking for the code, went to the glove compartment to find the manuals and the TOSSERS HAVE TAKEN THEM OUT phoned the dealer and told him in a very polite way,and then paid a visit to ford main dealers who kindly obtained the code for me and explained how to type it in,so at least ive got music.

phoned the dealer again and apparently the so called EXPERT REPAIRERS have by passed the booster heater?(so ive got no temperature output on the panel in the speedo)he is now pulling his hair out and agrees with me that this is costing them an arm and a leg and it wouldve been cheaper for fords to have done the work(AHHHHH FU**ING SHAME)but he says his hands are tied by the main vauxhall dealers who approve all warranty work,i feel getting this booster heater repaired is like hunting for the holy grail, but im determined not to give up on this, and i really do not want to reject the car but now my patience is wearing extremely thin!!!!!!!

ive even told all and sundrie about this forum and said that if there so called experts haven't got a clue that there can find all the answers here but alas they seem to think they know better

yet another update

yes been waiting all this time AND IT STILL AINT BLOODY FIXED couple of weeks ago it leaked all the coolent out from where these W*****S bypassed the unit they used spring clips :D :D ,phoned dealer and it went in the next day for repairs and top up,

ended up have a BIG SHOUTING MATCH WITH THEM and gave them 7 days to sort it,in the mean time the better half phoned the finance company who told us to immediately to write a letter to them explaining what had been going on which we did(THANX TO THOSE WHO HELPED ME)you know who you are :D and so far theyve been very helpful they contacted them and sent them a copy of my letter, and lo and behold 2 days later the so called experts rang me direct to arrange time of refitting unit back on to the car

yesterday the unit was refitted apparently it worked on the bench, but it dont seem to be working on the car(i know about the 10degrees)STILL got the flashing control panel and no temp readouts on the dash and panel.

dealer said the ecu probably needs resetting, take it to fords to be booked in,so i did today and explained what has been supposedly been done,HIS REPLY WAS the only thing that can be done is THE GLOW PLUG which i already knew  and he also told me that it is a plug and use unit?????so anyway next week its in to check for codes etc, phoned dealer who now has said OH HELL LOOKS LIKE ITS GOING TO BE A NEW UNIT ARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH

this is going to end up costing THEM an absolute bloody fortune,oh well :) AS VIKKI POLLARD SAYS am i boverd :)

greger you got a cool head mate cuz that tosser would have been dragged over his sales desk and bundled in to the boot(yes boot ) of a car and dropped off at the ford dealers (good fellas style) where the galaxy would have been and the told to try and bull shit the dealer

then when failed told he was paying for it to be sorted there and also the cost of a hire car and then made to walk back(oh would make sure the car was at a dealer in the next town and he did not have his mobile ) :(

you are in the top ten of cool under fire

p.s and he could pick up the finance payments while you are unable to enjoy the car regards less of what hire car you had :(
