Guest wolfie Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 why do you need it? if its due then just book it in and get it done, if you need it to tax or the car? then you need to get a copy from the testing station Quote
mumof4 Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 i thought you needed it for the MOT? you cant tax it as far as i am aware with a mot cert that is about to expire.. Quote

big wheel Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 If you are going to tax your car,do it on line. As soon as you put in your reg number big brother knows all your details Quote
RADIOTWO Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Thing is though..V5 is with it...i have a very bad feeling that i threw it out with the old insurance docs.. :oHi Maz You don't need a V5 to tax the car!, but you will need a MOT that does not run out before you have to tax it, but if you had a "new" type MOT then the mot station will have all the details on record. Then when you have your new MOT and you get the tax reminder through the post just go on line and get the tax via the Web. Easy !! Radiotwo Quote
mumof4 Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 MOT and tax are due on the same day..28th feb...but you need to prove ownership of the car dont you?am sure i took the V5 with me last time i got it taxed.. Quote
adrianf. Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 You dont need V5 to tax a car.All you need is MOT, Insurance doc, and the form that came in the post to remind you Gordon Brown wants some more money off you Quote
Dave-G Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Just think of it like a speeding ticket Maz - as long as you give them money all is well, they will not be concerned about who the lawfull driver or owner is. Quote

Scorpiorefugee Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Calm down, It's only an MOT and it's just about due anyway. You don't want to leave it until the last minute and you've got less than a fortnight. Take a deep breath and book it in, preferably to wherever you did it last time. If they're any good, they'll apreciate repeat business and find your old expiry date and act acordingly. If they're not much good, you'll need all the time you can get to find someone who is. At the very worst, you might loose a few days of overlap. At the best, you'll give yourself the most avilable time to sort any problems. Good luck. I've got my fingers crossed..... Ron. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 You don't need the old MOT or V5 to have a new MOT done. You need an MOT to tax the car, but it only needs to be valid (like the insurance) on the day that the new tax starts. If your insurance and MOT run out on 2 March, you can still re-tax the car on 1 March. Good luck with the MOT, I always find it a real nail-biting time. Mine was done in January and the garage kindly changed for free one of the rear indicator bulbs as they thought that it wasn't sufficiently orange! Reward at last for being a loyal customer Quote

Reward at last for being a loyal customer Maz, On the subject of bulbs, IIRC there are two rear light bulbs on each side, a bigger one incorporating the brake light and a smaller one beside it. If that is the case then your off-side smaller one is not working. :( Andy. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 Gawd...Thanks for that Andy..will check it out tomorrow. :( Quote
