big wheel Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Hi, I'm a new member. It took me ages to find like minded people who like the Galaxy. I bought mine two years ago and touch wood it's still going strong. It was a mid life crisis, I've had loads of cars, the best being a VW Passat. My wife was learning to drive and said "I'm not driving that big thing when I pass my test",so it went, boo hoo. I then got a Focus 1.8 ghia, with a shoe box of a boot. The end of this tail is,she failed her test and never drove again, which left me with the shoe box. I was how on the hunt for my car,"a Galaxy". I could not afford a brand new one,but a couple of years old was in reach. Then a dealer friend told me of one he spotted in Fords,a demo. A 1.9 tdi ghia auto, with all the toys,sat/nav,heated seats, climate control, swivel front seats and even chrome roof rails. The best was 500 miles on the clock and even better Quote
raymac Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 If you are not losing fluid from the header tank then don't worry about it, it's as the man says the aircon, pipes develop condensation on them when aircon/climate control is on ;) after 3 days and reversing it could be water trapped in the engine undertray ,like i said if you are not losing water from anywhere stop panicing mr mannering :16: Quote
big wheel Posted February 14, 2007 Author Report Posted February 14, 2007 I've just finished work and seen your reply, thank you. I keep checking the fuids and nothing seems to be going down,so I will presume it is the air con. The only problem is "her in doors". we have only just had the drive done and this ugly pool of fluid sit right outside the front door for somebody to slide on their a****e. Am I the only one that this happens too and do I have to put a drip tray under it for the rest of it's life. Well done Ford. Quote
raymac Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Every car fitted with aircon does it not just ford  ,she'll be glad of it with all this global warming :) Quote
mumof4 Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 Tell er indoors to mop it up if she that bothered.its what i would do if i were bothered..(mop it up i mean)..cars im afraid are not clean creatures.....The novelty of a new drive will soon wear off and then she wont care how mucky it gets...i really need another cuppa....not awake yet... you know..just thinking...could always collect the water and use it to water the plants :) Quote
My Other Car Is A Galaxy Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 If you are not losing water I wouldn't worry. I have a 52 plate 1.9TDi Ghia, and I get two pools of the water you mention. One at the front, and one at the nearside rear. It is almost definitely condensation drainage from the air-con. Hope this helps. Quote
big wheel Posted February 14, 2007 Author Report Posted February 14, 2007 I love these replies, but if it's condensation, why is it oily and not pure water. It never evaporates,it's as if it's water with an additive in and just gets bigger. Also, how come I get condensation in the middle of winter, summer yes. I was also reading about the heater booster, very funny replies. So I thought I would see if mine was working and it does. But why does the little exhaust pipe blow right onto the silencer box. It's got a big black patch on the box,is this Fords new idea for keeping the silencer nice and warm, very strange !!! Quote
raymac Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 If its got oil in the water then i suggest it is coming from the undrtray where water will gather and any slight oil leak will drip ,i do recall you saying they (fraud) spotted an oil leak and repaired it (rocker gasket ) then there is your oil  stop flapping and enjoy the drive Quote
big wheel Posted February 14, 2007 Author Report Posted February 14, 2007 Good answer,Raymac, but it's clear, like coolant not black like engine oil. I pesume it will develop into something just in time for the warranty to run out. I bought it because it is a VW in Ford clothes,so let's hope it doesn't turn into a Ford...Fix..Often and Repair Daily......sorry Ford lovers. Quote
