obee Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Hi peeps, Had the Gal for a few weeks now and really need to do something with the stereo. Its currently got a cheap Kenwood pop-off front stereo that the dealer fitted before we bought her :( . I would like to do either of the following two but not sure about how much work is involved : 1) fit original 2007R + original 10CD changer (all from eBay)or2) fit Ford 6006E In both cases would like to get the stalk controls working again but both would require changes to the dash as its only single slot at the moment with the tray underneath. Ideal scenario would be the 6006E with functioning stalk control. Has anyone done either before and if so, what is involved ? TIA OBee Quote
steve67car Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 1)if a mark 1 you would need the amp that is burried under the pocket and a metal tray as well as all the relivant cables  2)a6006 will not allow the stork to work also may need wiring changed if a mk1 as wiring on mark 1 is differant (before antone trys to correct me dont i am right ) as the mk1 is iso connector or part ford (power)and part nothing else (if ampped model)3)if mark 2 then the 6006 will plug straight in but on later models the stork cable was swopped to the mondeo stork wiring and not the alhambra spec in all cases easier to have what you have improved but dont go back to o.e as its even worse and in both cases there are h/u that with an adaptor will allow the stork to work (as long as the cable is still intact behind the dash hope this helps regards steve Quote
obee Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 Cheers Steve. Its a MK1. In that case, is there a 5/6/7000 unit that will fit relatively easily and work with the stalk ? Also, where do I find non-ford h/u's that work with the stalk ? Last one, what does mfd stand for, it doing my head in reading threads littered with it ? Ta Muchly OBee Quote

mumble_bee Posted February 19, 2007 Report Posted February 19, 2007 when I bought my Ghia 99, it had no audio head unit, I bought a 2007R (I think- whatever the standard one is) stuck it in and it worked first time..I asked the chap who had it before, he said he was using an aftermarket one. Quote
