Daz .... if there isnt a level sensor, its not a latched fault that has to be cleared using VAG-COM is it m8?

Can't see it being the case Bleeno but, stranger thinks have happened. Just to note though, it is definitely a level warning as the oil can is yellow and not red.

Maz, I wouldn't get under the car with the factory jack. You must use axle stands. I've known cars to fall off the factory jack. You may be able to lower the undertray without jacking the car up, bit tight but the Galaxy is quite high.

Maz .... if there isnt a level sensor you might like to just pull the electrical connector off the sensor you have just replaced. The light should go out as the pressure sensor is basically a switch providing an earth. So, if you disconnect the wire the light should go out. If not then you have a short circuit ..... mmmm .... wiring or a parallel earth somewhere.

My old 115 had a plug into some electrical device in the base of the sump. LOOKS similar shape as the photo of the oil level plug.

Also - forgive me for this bloke thing - but I have many a time raised the car by driving it onto a concrete block. In fact - shame on me - I have used a block in front of two blocks (three in total each side) as a step up ;)

That was before I made this thread:

Tht'll probably be the front two - long socket extensions needed there Maz - and you'll find it easier to put back on if you grow two more hands and an extra leg to prop it up with.

Maz dear - Do Not get under the car when its jacked up by something as rickety and fold-up-able as the standard jack. If you must be a bit of a lad - park one side on the kerb and drive onto a brick or concrete block placed in front of the other wheel.

Bless - now bear in mind - when you have obtained a socket extension bar (every toolbox should have one or two different lengths) and removed the undercover you will need a bowl to drain the oil into before attempting to change the level sensor. But since your doing a service anyway you need to change the oil anyway you wont need to look for one of those devices to suck oil out of the dipstick tube.

I dont know if the oil level sensor has a gasket supplied with it - enquire when you buy it.

maz...not getting at you, but im a little concerned you went under a car that was being held up by a crap screw jack.

weve got a 2 tonne hydraulic jack and i still wouldn't trust it one bit -- axel stands - or concrete block (or number of bricks) depending what you got.

i think you can get metal ramps from halfords too.

take care,

Forget metal ramps Matt - the reason I made my woody ones is that you would need an extra-extra long set to lift the front skirt over the highest part of the ramp before it gets ripped off.
