littledaz Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Daz .... if there isnt a level sensor, its not a latched fault that has to be cleared using VAG-COM is it m8? Can't see it being the case Bleeno but, stranger thinks have happened. Just to note though, it is definitely a level warning as the oil can is yellow and not red. Maz, I wouldn't get under the car with the factory jack. You must use axle stands. I've known cars to fall off the factory jack. You may be able to lower the undertray without jacking the car up, bit tight but the Galaxy is quite high. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 mmm...i shall try ... last thing i want is the car toppling on me..though i can get under it as i did the other day checking the exhaust for holes..found rust but no holes. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 by the way..it was either a 22mm or 24mm socket needed....cant remember which one he said. Quote
Smilge Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Maz .... if there isnt a level sensor you might like to just pull the electrical connector off the sensor you have just replaced. The light should go out as the pressure sensor is basically a switch providing an earth. So, if you disconnect the wire the light should go out. If not then you have a short circuit ..... mmmm .... wiring or a parallel earth somewhere. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 i shall try once the rain eases up a bit... Quote
Dave-G Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 (edited) My old 115 had a plug into some electrical device in the base of the sump. LOOKS similar shape as the photo of the oil level plug. Also - forgive me for this bloke thing - but I have many a time raised the car by driving it onto a concrete block. In fact - shame on me - I have used a block in front of two blocks (three in total each side) as a step up ;) That was before I made this thread: http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/i...amp;#entry51370 Edited February 9, 2007 by Dave-G Quote
NikpV Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 Its a long time since I saw those picture ;):) Quote
littledaz Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 My old 115 had a plug into some electrical device in the base of the sump something like this Dave-G Quote
mumof4 Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 if it isnt too wet tomorrow i shall take the undertray off and have a gander and let you know if i see anything. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 am i looking at the right bolts to undo?..they are star shaped..i mean..like a cross...(on ythe undertray) Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 anyone got a pic of where the bolts are?..bit tight under the car and i cant find my disc... Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 found where all the bolts are..but i cant get two of them off so i cant take it off..sorry. Quote
Dave-G Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Tht'll probably be the front two - long socket extensions needed there Maz - and you'll find it easier to put back on if you grow two more hands and an extra leg to prop it up with. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 yes was the front two near the wheel arches.....they were stiff and i couldnt get the grip to loosen them... Quote
Dave-G Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Out of curiosity Maz - how did you raise the car? Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 with the jack you get with the car..i raised it one side then the other and i crawled underneath. Quote
Dave-G Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Maz dear - Do Not get under the car when its jacked up by something as rickety and fold-up-able as the standard jack. If you must be a bit of a lad - park one side on the kerb and drive onto a brick or concrete block placed in front of the other wheel. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 bit of a lad???..not trying to be a lad..just trying to sort it out.... point taken though. Quote
Dave-G Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 (edited) Bless - now bear in mind - when you have obtained a socket extension bar (every toolbox should have one or two different lengths) and removed the undercover you will need a bowl to drain the oil into before attempting to change the level sensor. But since your doing a service anyway you need to change the oil anyway you wont need to look for one of those devices to suck oil out of the dipstick tube. I dont know if the oil level sensor has a gasket supplied with it - enquire when you buy it. Edited February 11, 2007 by Dave-G Quote
mumof4 Posted February 11, 2007 Author Report Posted February 11, 2007 so it def has a level sensor under the sump?? Quote
Dave-G Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Thats why your taking the bottom cover off Maz - to find out -) Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 maz...not getting at you, but im a little concerned you went under a car that was being held up by a crap screw jack. weve got a 2 tonne hydraulic jack and i still wouldn't trust it one bit -- axel stands - or concrete block (or number of bricks) depending what you got. i think you can get metal ramps from halfords too. take care, MJR Quote
Dave-G Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 Forget metal ramps Matt - the reason I made my woody ones is that you would need an extra-extra long set to lift the front skirt over the highest part of the ramp before it gets ripped off. Quote
mumof4 Posted February 12, 2007 Author Report Posted February 12, 2007 I have today.....ordered a level sensor...nearly had a heart attack at the price!! Quote
Guest wolfie Posted February 12, 2007 Report Posted February 12, 2007 did you order the seal to go with it? Quote
