Guest martinedwards Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 I have a seat alhambra which is the same as a vw sharan/ford galaxy. Ireversed it into a wall & needed a new rear bunper & some paint around thetail gate area. When I went to collect the car from the paint shop thelights in the boot area wouildn't go out. We looked for ages but couldn'tfind any sign of a switch. Anyone know where to look? Thanx Martin Quote
ALARM MAN Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Switch is in the rear door lock in back doorFirst i would take it back to have them sort it Ian Quote
Dave-G Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 They're linked with the other interior lights.sounds like your body shop aint too good at electrics B) Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Are you sure that the boot lock doesn't just need adjusting? The common thing these days is for boot light switches to be integrated with the lock assembly itself. Have you tried slamming the tailgate shut to see if that puts the lights out? If not, you'll just have to take the bulbs out until your bodyshop finishes your repair off properly. Quote
iainkirk Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 Martin, Just to inject a dose of the sarcasm that me and a few others are notable for... Did you get them to fit parking sensors at the same time ?? B) Sounds like you need 'em... Quote
Guest martinedwards Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 That's not sarcasm, that's perfectly reasonable advice! I grew up on a farm so I'm used to reversing everything from a quad bike up to a 20 ton grain truck so I really have no excuse for backing it into a wall! Anyway, The bodyshop was less than 1/4 what our main dealer was asking so I can't complain as the paint looks great. I took off the internal panel from the back door, slammed it twice and put the panel back on. Thje lights now go off when asked. I suspect that this is a bit like when the video repair man lifts the lid off, peers inside & says "hmmmmmmm Seventy quid atl east" beforwe screwing the lid back on to find it fully repaired!!! Thanks for the advice one and all Martin Quote
Dave-G Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 I grew up on a farm so I'm used to reversing everything from a quad bike up to a 20 ton grain truck so I really have no excuse for backing it into a wall! Now then boyo  That sounds like a welsh name you have  What else have you backed into a wall? welcome to the forum. It's a bit tongue in cheek sometimes . . . Maybe it would have been ok to back it into a wall again to save removing the back panel. Quote
Guest martinedwards Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 Nope, not welsh, 20 miles south of Belfast, where the bombs come from! While I think I know what you're hinting at I've only ever backed into one other thing. A road sign when 3 piont turning a mk 3 escort van 15 years ago. My excuse is that the vertical pillars of the back door completely obscured the post tht the no tutning sign was mounted on!! Mind you, if driving a tractor and you can't be bothered to open the gate to drive through then just drive slowly into it. The gate will spring neatly open and not (usually)remain bent. Incidently who's the sneaky git who found my post on the vw news group?? Quote
Jim Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Hey Martin, You're 20 miles south of Belfast in farming country(?), so I'm guessing around Dromore/Ballynahinch. Anyway, from South Belfast myself and shocked at what some of the folks on the forum are paying for insurance, If you don't mind me asking, what the insurance like on the Alhambra? My Quote
