ATB Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Hi Was just wondering if anyone had upgraded from normal wipers to flat-blades on an older Galaxy? Mine is a 2001 new style model, but not one that had the flat blades fitted as standard. www.wiperblades.co.uk state they have Valeo & Bosch ones that will fit, but I wanted to hear if anyone here had done a similar thing before ordering? ThanksATB Quote
Rallim Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Mines the same age with the old style 'banana' wipers and I considered doing exactly the same, however you need to change the wiper arms to fit the 'aero blades'. There has been talk of Bosch producing a 'conversion kit' but nothing seems to have happened when I changed mine a couple of months ago. Gordon Quote
bigdaddy Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 fitted straights instead of banana type, as that was all they had, and I needed to replace them asap, and they work great no problems, got mine from halfods for 19.99 early last year Quote
MrT Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I changed to the Bosch aerotwin type blades by buying two new arms and the blades on ebay for Quote
jwilliams Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Try here www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/product.php?productid=16767&cat=706&page=1 I have used them for bulbs and wipers and can recommend them. I have thought about changing my wifes wipers for the retro fit aero twins on her small car. I have the MKII and are well impressed with them. Don't know how well the retro fit ones will work on the MKI. Quote
ATB Posted February 6, 2007 Author Report Posted February 6, 2007 Thanks for all the replies. I contacted www.wiperblades.co.uk and they confirmed the ones they listed would only fit a Gal which had the new style arms designed for flat blades. They did say however that in a few weeks time they would be getting some univeral fit Truepart blades in which used an adaptor to fit to normal arms so I may wait and get a pair from them (They would have been in stock already, but can anyone guess where the shipping container with the blades is right now?!)
