Guest eddyh Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 As a new user to the forum I'm only sorry I didn't know it existed before. I too had a problem with my remote central locking after changing the batteries. A visit to my local Ford Main Dealer diagnosed the need for a new remote key fob at approx. Quote

Guest nelse Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 thought i'd add my tale of woe with fords inability to sort new keys out, just bought a 53 plate zetec tdi, when i picked it up only had one key (remote) no emergency key, complained pointing out the trouble i'd be in if i lost my only key, they agreed to sort me a second key (non remote) free of charge, booked the car in, took it in bright and early, salesman sorted me a very nice 130bhp mondeo ghia as a courtesy seeing as the service dept wouldn't give me one, so 7 hours later still no word from the service dept, got call from salesman telling me he'd just chased them up because he couldn't understand why i hadn't dropped the courtesy car back yet, he told me the service dept needed to rebook my car in because they needed to order a key blank, so two days later i was once again enjoying the mondeo, dropped car off at 9.00am service dept asked when i'd like my car back and i told them early as possible and no later than 2.00 pm, 2.20pm i had to call them to be told they were just about to start programming it, needed to give them an hour, so 3.30 having heard nothing, tried direct phone number to the service manager recieved no answer for over 10 minutes, finally went through main desk and got girl to run around tracking him down, after 10 minutes she's back on the phone saying there is a probem in that the new fob isn't remote (it was never meant to be), informed her it wasn't a problem and why but i needed the car back, was going out and had to have my car back at 4.30 latest It was now nearly 4.00pm, told her i'd pick the car up and drop it back for the key programming another day. got to the service desk at 4.20, girl dissapears telling me on her reappearence they are programming my key right now, will be no more than 10 minutes, 4.30 and have to ask her again about my car, once again explaining i really needed it back now. informed they were still doing it, 4.45 service manager appears saying they had been trying to program the key all day but it kept failing and it appeared to be the unit in the car at fault.so car now rebooked for wednesday. Asked what they intended to do about the failure to succesfully program the key, what else may be faulty recieved a shrug of the shoulders, didn't have time to argue, i'll save it for wednesday, Left with a distinct feeling I didn't matter, was being fed one lie after another and the whole organisation was amature at best. My advice is stay away from Heartlands Ford Erdington branch. must say the salesman has been great though, in his attempts to help, i'll see if he'll let me sort the key out somewhere else and send them the bill. which to be fair he offered this on wednesday, but i decided to let the service dept have a chance to sort it out, big mistake. k.t Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 ;) Hi Daren...c Just some more Info.... First of all on the keys, Ford get them done by a similar person as Joe Public can. Someone who will remain nameless ;) just in case Ford Sack em for helping It's Customers {very strange world} Insert a key into the drivers side door lock. Turn the key to the unlock position three times in succession [at least half a second each time, and within a total period of five seconds] The system should now enter the programming mode and the LED should Illuminate continously for the next 15 seconds. The Key MUST be programed within this period. Aim the first key to the infrared receiver, press one of the buttons on the key and keep it pressed. At the same time pressing the second button three times.... then release both buttons... The remote control key should acknowledge as successful transmittal by the KEY Led flasing 5 times.. the system should also acknowledge by the indicator LED flashing rapidly 6 times THE SYSTEM WILL AUTOMATICALLY EXIT THE PROGRAMMING MODE15 SECONDS AFTER THE LAST KEY HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED Hope this helps.... shackers...
