Guest keith_98_ghia Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 Two of my electric windows have stopped working, first of all was the nearside rear followed later by the nearside front. I can hear what may be a relay clicking in the door, please help oh experienced owners. The messages I have looked up suggest: 1. Check the fuse [surely the all would have stopped working as I can only find 1 fuse?]2. The wiring going into the door snaps [okay could be, but wouldn't the drivers door go first as that is used the most?]3. Very expensive other things in the door. Have I missed anything, or do you have anything to recommend? Please help oh wise ones. Thanks Keith Quote
Guest yurir Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Could it be that the window mechs are getting sticky, and the overload (anti jam) device is operating ? Does anyone know if the the overload trip point can be adjusted ? Or perhaps try lubricating the mech ? Quote
Guest Andy Posted December 7, 2003 Report Posted December 7, 2003 The wires between my driver door and A-post snapped stopping the nearside to stop working and the sunroof ,soldered them back together and yipee SORTED. B) ;) B) B) Quote
Dave-G Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 welcome to the site Keith. My "clicking" sounds in my alhambra door[when window stopped working] turned out to be the winding mechanism wire had snapped. It looks like galvanised straining wire, and more importantly-complicated when we consider that we dont see it intact[before the break] to figure out it's path over the various pulleys it fits.I'm also not very dexterous these days:so left it to the seat dealership. I cant remember the cost  Quote
Guest keith_98_ghia Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 My "clicking" sounds in my alhambra door[when window stopped working] turned out to be the winding mechanism wire had snapped Thanks for the welcome Dave-G and the suggested cure. However, my "clicking" is more of a "click" when the window button is pressed, followed by another single "click" when it is released, there is no motor running. Thanks anyway. Do you have any other ideas? I am hoping for something really simple that does not require 1) me to be a gifted engineer or 2) cost too much money  Neither of which seem to be consistant with a Ford Galaxy ! Quote
smon Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Is the click therefore just the sound of the switch operating? From reading the various posts, I got the impression that the wiring is such that a break in the drivers door wiring can stop windows in other doors working as Andy has posted here. If this is the case, you could have this common problem. Simon Quote
