jkspoff Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 (edited) I have been playing the excellent game Call Of Duty 2 on the PC, the game allows you to join to a server to play with other players via broadband, but does anyone know how to set up a server so you can invite just chosen players to join, rather than anyone ? If you've not played it then try the demo version: http://www.callofduty.com/ http://news.gaminghorizon.com/media2/1127760180.2408.html Edited January 29, 2007 by jkspoff Quote

IIRC I had a big problem with downloading the Multiplayer patch from their site ...... turned out a hacker had attached a virus to the patch!!! Didnt bother with it after that. Good game though ...very addictive. Quote
tiny Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 (edited) You should try Battlefield 2142 or even Battlefield 2Both are excellent online first person shooters, and (IMO) much better than the COD games they need a decent spec PC to run nicely though. Edited February 3, 2007 by tiny Quote
Gteuk Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 You can run a server from home, the problem you have in multiplayer is LAG, if you try to run it from the same computer as you are playing on it slows everything down and players get upset. You can set a dedicated PC on your internal network and use port fowarding on your router to route to the dedicated PC this means you won't get lag or as much anyway. I used to do this for quake 3 using noghost server which is brilliant, but a lot see quake 3 as old hat now :( Quote
NikpV Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 Quake 3 multiplayer was fine but its single player mode - constant deathmatch wasn't particularly gripping, more recently Far Cry was good in this genre Quote
