Guest Andyjflet Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 You could try the disconnecting the battery scenario for 10 mins, sometimes works, leave the doors unlocked though and the bonnet up Quote
Guest sugarfairie Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Doors will not lock with the remote key fob, and is making a "click click" noise, only way to central lock is to use the key, this problem is intermitent.Ideas welcome.Anna. B) Quote
Guest Nick S Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 The other halfs 1999 Focus is having a heeby geeby when you try to lock it, any suggestions ???Many thanks Anna  Have you noticed any correlation between how cold the car is and when the problem occurs ? It happens with my wife's '01 Focus particularly when the car has been standing a while or driven only a short distance and it's driving us mad, but it's always fine after it's been driven a while. Elsewhere on the web someone suggests checking for corrosion in the connectors on the "A"pillars, wherever they are.....but you say you can lock it with the key when this happens ? We can't even do that. Quote
Guest redfocusgreen Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Hi Try reprograming the key fob.It goes something like this, put your key in the ignition turn it on to posistion 2 then off,3 times quickly you should hear a beep, press the unlock button on the fob, turn it on then off again and try the remote. hopfully this will work. Please let me know if this has sorted your problem. Guest Ford Master Technician Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 The correct procedure for re-programming the remote key in is: ignition switched from off position to position II 4 times in less than 5 secondsa "ping" will be heard from the 'GEM' module (or CTM module depending on age of Focus).Once the "ping" is heard press and hold 'any' button on the remote for at least 2 seconds and a second "ping" will be heard. Now turn the igntion on and off again (this takes the GEM/CTM out of learn mode). The remote will now work. If not above the drivers side kickpanel (right hand panel by accelerator pedal) on the bulkhead you will find the CDL (central door locking module) unplug all multiplugs from this module, wait 5 seconds and re-plug them in again (the doorlocks should attempt to lock but can't because you've got the drivers door open) this will tell you the actual central locking is working ok. Now try the remote again it will probably work now (this is because the the CDL module's are known to spike and unplugging them re-sets them). If it still doesn't work and you heard the door locks attempt to lock when you plugged the CDL back in then I would check the remote battery with a multimeter (should be between 2.5 and 3 volts (preferably 3volts)) if not change the battery. If it is 3volts and a "ping" was never heard when you held down a button after ignition key on-off procedure then the remote key itself is at fault. be warned these arn't cheap, E-bay is the best place for them, but you will have to take the PATS (passive anti theft system) chip out of your old remote and fit it into the new one. Guest Adski Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 Hi - I'm new to this forum and need to deperate help. My 1.8 Focus Ghia is doing the same as is described above but with a few interesting touches. OUTSIDE THE CAR 1. Locking with the key in lock works fine 2. Locking with remotes 'bounces' locks/unlocks straight away as we already knew INSIDE THE CAR 1. Locking the drivers door inside operates the locks fine. 2. Locking from passenger side bounces the locks again 3. This is the interesting part. If you lock the drivers door from the inside, and then with the remote put the deadlocks on, you can unlock the whole car from the driver's side. It deactivates the deadlocks and unlocks the car. This cannot be done from the passenger side though. HELP...PLEASE! I was going to try the above reset method with the driver's kickpanel - is that where the fuel reset buttin is? Thanks Adski Quote
